Rain, rain, PLEASE go away!

It's about 8:30, Sunday evening and we're finally home from the track. We got to the track around 7:00AM and went in all directions, Mr Mouse, Sarah and Susan were autograph hunting, which left me on my own to get into whatever mischief I could find. Damn, I'm good at it.So, I wandered down to the SPEED area just to see what was going on. As my hubby so nicely puts it, I could step into a bucket of shit and come up smelling like a rose. Anyway, a couple of the guys were interviewing someone, and… Read More

Amonos

Last week I learned an important lesson about tires. I went to the Mini dealership for my regular service appointment. I expected to get my oil changed and a car wash and be out of there in an hour. However, it got ugly in a hurry. The service chick came over to me and said, "We got your oil changed and the rest of your car serviced, but you have a problem with your tires. There is a chunk of your right front tire wrapped around your axle, and it will be $800 to replace the front tires."… Read More

Slider's Sonoma Pre Race Report

#7 Jim Beam/Menards Toyota Save Mart 350

Pre Race Report

• Michigan Recap – The race adage that hard work in the shop equates to positive results at the track was proved true again as the #7 Red Stag Toyota was fast off the truck and was fast in practice. Starting in the 13th position, Robby Gordon and crew turned in a very solid 17th place finish last week. Gordon looks to continue the positive momentum this week in Sonoma at the Infineon road course for the… Read More

#7 Red Stag/Kid Rock LifeLock 400

Pre Race Report

• Pocono Hustle – Starting at the rear of field has never intimidated the Robby Gordon Motorsports crew, and last week’s race in Pennsylvania was no exception. Gordon, returning to the track after a huge victory at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, took the green flag at Pocono officially in the 43rd spot and worked his way up to 25th in a very stout race car. However a chassis/tire issue plagued Gordon for the rest of the… Read More

Can I sign it too ??

Just after happy hour practice was completed at Dover, Robby was about to go to in the hauler when a young boy asked Robby to sign his photo. The photo was a picture of a quarter-midget. Robby asked the kid " hey , is this you? " The boy then replied " Yes" . Robby then said " that's cool! " . Robby was about ready to sign the photo, when Nascar driver David Ragan(who was on his way to the Nationwide car ) stopped in his tracks to see what Robby was signing.…

Nice little visit today

Well I had a pleasant surprise today.

This morning a mom and her 3 year old son came into my office. The boy was wearing a new Robby Gordon Baja 500 T-shirt. I said "I know where you were this weekend." The mom said no he wasn't but his dad was. The dad was part of a teams pit crew and because his son is a Robby Gordon fan he brought the t-shirt home for him. Before I could say anything else a coworker came out of her office laid her hands on my shoulders and said, "well this is Robby… Read More

New Cartoon - Not about Robby this time...

I just finished this one and I was wondering "do I put it in my page at the planet or not?" Why not?
It's not about Robby, yet it's about NASCAR.

Hail Caesar

Before diving into the Cup talk this week I have to tell you about an excellent culinary adventure I had the other day. For the first time in my life, I made my own salad dressing and it came out awesome. I made a fresh Caesar dressing. MMM..mmmm.The fresh ground garlic just gave it a sublime quality that is unmatchable by the packaged stuff. It was so easy and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm not sure why I got motivated to do it, but it was a fantastic experiment.

I digress.… Read More

#7 Pittsburgh Paints Pocono 500

Pre Race Report

• Monster Mile Mishap – A very untimely collision and hard contact with the inside wall at Dover ruined what was shaping up to be another solid run by Team Gordon last Sunday. The crash relegated the #7 Richmond Water heater’s Toyota to 33rd in what has become something of a recurring theme for Robby Gordon this year. Gordon looks to improve this week in Pennsylvania for the Pocono 500 sporting the green and black… Read More

• #7 Stout in Challenge Race – A potentially strong starting position for the All Star Challenge race was rained out, relegating Robby Gordon’s Jim Beam Operation Home Front Toyota to the 32nd position for last Saturday night’s 40 lap dash. However a well-handling chassis set up and some very aggressive driving produced a strong 9th place finish and, perhaps even more importantly, valuable information… Read More

Bump and Run

What a superb race at the weekend. There was something to cheer about for everyone. Each manufacturer had a stint in the lead, rookies came to the front, plenty of wrecks, different pit strategies, and many different drivers had a dominant stint of the race. Can you believe that I fell asleep with 30 to go? What a great day for Hendrick too. Their engines and engineering support were behind each car in the top 5. They are the classiest operation in Cup racing and proved it in a big way at… Read More

Sliders Pre Race Report - All Star Race

#7 Jim Beam Operation Home Front All-Star Race

Pre Race Report

• Lady in Black has her way with the #7car – It didn’t take long for Robby Gordon’s Quaker State Toyota to earn its “Darlington Stripe” last week, thanks to some assistance from a fellow NASCAR competitor who’s name rhymes with Humdinger. However the crew was able to make necessary repairs enough to earn a 28th place finish at the track “too tough to tame”. This week, the Robby Gordon Motorsports Toyota… Read More

Boyscout Cookies

This is tough to admit, but I was a boy scout when I was a kid. When I was in my second year of scouts I was really into it. I was dominating merit badges and earning ranks like it was going out of style. The ranks go First Class, Star, Heart, then Eagle scout. I was in my review for my Star rank, and my bitch female scout master failed me while the rest of my friends got their badge. She rejected me on the grounds that I made fun of a Cub scout's cookies at a previous scout meeting. The… Read More

• Green machine comes through - Robby Gordon Motorsports turned a fortnight’s worth of bad luck into pay dirt last week as the team fought hard for a lead-lap 16th place run at Richmond. Keeping with the green is gold strategy, the #7 Toyota will be sporting the same winning design with sponsor Quaker State on the hood for Saturday night’s race at Darlington Raceway.

Sing When Your Friends are Winning

So maybe I was wrong about Talladega being boring. Perhaps I just turned on the TV at the right time, but it was a fantastic result. There is no limit to the amount of times that I can watch Carl's wreck. On a personal note, the truck and nationwide races held more joy than the cup race, as two of my friends got their first wins. My friend Seth has been the race engineer on the #6 busch car for like 3 years, and finally got his first win at Talladega. Then, Mike Skinner closed the deal in… Read More

Pre Race Report

• What if they named it the Crown Royal Presents the Slider 400? – Robby Gordon Motorsport’s run of bad luck continued for the 3rd straight week, this time as Gordon’s Jim Beam Toyota was involved in a multi-car accident that sent the #7 head first into the back stretch wall. While the Toyota’s damage was terminal, Robby escaped injury and will be back behind the wheel of his… Read More

What happens in Dega...

I have tried twice to write this thing and every time I hit a wrong key and delete the whole thing. Maybe the third time is a charm. Anyway, I had an absolute blast in Dega and would love to go back again. Now for the weekend! Most of this will be devoted to Friday night at the Montana Saloon and Grill.

Thank the Good Lord and all that's holy that I emailed RGM to find out where Robby was going to be appearing! On that note we arrived at the above mentioned spot and basically settled… Read More

PlanetRobby Fan Club Meets in 'Dega!

The PlanetRobby fan club held another one of its meetings in Talladega, AL. The usual suspects were in attendance (Ms. Gibby, Path, Mouse and Sarah). The meeting was held at the Montana Saloon and Grill located on I-77, 2 miles from the track.

The members enjoyed a lovely meal before some indulged in Jim Beam Black.

Path made sure to guard the car before Robby got there.…

No Fun in Alabama

While the NASCAR circus was out at Phoenix last week, I took the opportunity to take in a late model race at Hickory. Hickory is about 90 minues north west of Charlotte, and is a short track that used to host Busch series races, and maybe even a couple of truck races. Now it is a place for late model races and is a stepping stone track for Drive for Diversity and other young drivers. It is a pretty cool track actually. They do not let you bring beer into the track, but luckily the lot of us had… Read More

Slider's Talladega Pre Race Report

#7 Jim Beam Aaron’s 499

Pre Race Report

POSitively Devastating – Robby Gordon Motorsport’s run of bad luck continued last week as the #55 car of Michael “has anyone seen Buffy” Waltrip collected the #7 Menards/Mapei Toyota and ruined what otherwise would have been an excellent finish for Team Gordon. Robby and the boys look to rebound this week at the Talladega Speedway in what should be a terrific opportunity to gain significant owner and driver points. In 2008,… Read More
