STAGE 9 TRACKING

STAGE 9: BELEN > BELEN

Connection 111km | Special Stage 285km | Total 396km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This loop stage will not really be one for motorbikes and quad bikes, which will finish the first part of this second marathon stage in an isolated bivouac. Prior to this they will have spent the day, alongside the drivers in the other categories, almost entirely off-piste, both in the vegetation-scattered dunes and on harder terrains, sometimes on river beds. Physically, the day might prove to be a significant challenge, as the mercury soars. The hardiest drivers will also be those who are the most clear headed, able to make the right navigational choices, a major challenge of this special section.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Thanks WJM . RDC guys say apparently Sheldon skipped a bunch of CPs yesterday . He was supposed to get just time penalties but he ain't French so ...........
Skip CP's does not care if your Brigette Bardot, you get disqualified

Damn ASO...they're still pissed at the Americans for that whole Lance Armstong deal.

Gosh, that's not looking good at all ! Hope it's not true, but there it is...

There is a max allowable WP misses.

24P2 PENALTIES FOR MISSING WAYPOINTS
1) The range of penalties for each missing Way Point (WPV, WPM, WPE, WPS, DZ, FZ, CP) will be indicated on the Road Book.
In the case where the Official Itinerary is not respected (succession of missing Waypoints representing a short cut), penalties may go up to and including Disqualification, as a function of the profile of the Stage and the number of kilometres missed. In case of Disqualification, for non-respect of the Itinerary, the Competitor will not be able to appeal this decision.

They just came and issued an official document to Sheldon regarding his missing waypoints. He is meeting with the race steward now.

Odd that they even let him start today, if this were the case.

He may have missed some today. They are cumulative I believe.

Wouldn't that be a function of the NAVAGATOR?

they may have been under tow

Quick, have Sheldon check ancestry.com. Maybe he has some French in him
