It's getting close to the start of greatest race in the world, the 2015 Dakar Rally! In the days leading up to the start of stage 1, there will be many events taking place. Robby Gordon and a few #TeamSPEED members have already arrived in Argentina, and the remaining crew will arrive around Dec.30th.

The guys will pick up the support trucks and the Gordini, then they will setup the #TeamSPEED compound and work on the vehicle leading up to Scrutineering (Tech inspection). Scrutineering takes place from January 1st to 3rd in Buenos Aires. On Jan 3rd, the teams will parade to the 'opening ceremonies ramp' and all the drivers will be introduced. There will be links to the "LIVE TV FEED" available on Jan. 3rd.

Stage 1 begins on Jan. 4th, 2015. As always, we will have live raceday chat, stage threads, in-action updates, photos, videos, etc. The "official" #TeamSPEED daily stage videos will be hosted here as well. The guys on the crew will also be sending us updates from the frontline.

What does everyone think about Team X-Raid testing out a two wheel drive buggy and Toyo Tires with Guerlain Chicherit and the #323 buggy? Think they are thinking about switching tire companies because of the problems they have had in the past, or of trying some two wheel cars next year?

Would suck if they went to Toyo as that would probably take money away from Robby.

My bet is Chicherit had a two year deal with Toyo from last year and somehow worked a deal with X-Raid since him and BJ blew up their cars last year.

X-Raid is looking to the future, Mini's contract expires after 2016 I believe.

Each year new teams are taking up the 2WD format it seems. I'm going to really hate it if Robby get beat at his own game, but with the sort of money and corporate resources behind these efforts, it will be interesting to see how things shake out. With just one Gordini running, and the ever-looming threat of random disasters, if we don't keep our nose clean it may be hard to know how the Gordini stacks up against the other efforts. Then again, Robby has always been the wild card in the Dakar, and I expect him to be the same again this year as well.

Remember this young buck ?
