Kurt to Double DownKurt Busch, driver of the Haas Automation #41 Chevrolet SS, will compete in races at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina and Indianapolis, Indiana on Memorial Day, May 25. The Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) driver will be only the fourth driver to attempt the punishing feat, fondly nicknamed “The Double.”

Kurt will drive a Dallara-Honda for Andretti Autosport in the Indianapolis 500. At the end of the race he will immediately fly to Charlotte, North Carolina to drive in the Coca-Cola 600 for SHR. Stewart-Haas Racing is co-owned by racing legend Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, founder and owner of Haas Automation, Inc. – the largest machine tool builder in the Western World, and primary sponsor of the No. 41 Chevy.

The only driver to successfully complete all laps in the Double, is SHR co-owner, Tony Stewart. In 2001, Stewart finished sixth at Indy and third at Charlotte. Stewart, along with SHR’s other open-wheel racecar veteran, Danica Patrick, will be offering Kurt advice and tips.

Kurt’s Double effort supports The Kurt Busch Project/Armed Forces Foundation partnership to raise awareness for the invisible wounds suffered by our military veterans.

Robby wasn't to far off in his interview.....

Who came up with "Out Law" anyway...? Is that another one of Ol' ...DWz' forced on nicknames? Nicknames are by chance not script. From what I understand DW wanted to stop sayin' the boggity boogity shit and FOX insisted he continue...that, after forcing a guy way up in Montreal I think it was, to change the name of his sports memorabilia shops name..??????? (This should be in brackets I think but what the hell harm was that guy doin anyway?) ...I know it has nothing to do really with the post other than the title but to be honest I was always a Kurt B. fan in a way of unxplainable understanding....I don't run around saying Wildthing turned Smoke which opened a hole for the Out Law .......But I say Danicrash without fail. I guess it was just the breath of fresh air he brought to the sport by actually racing around and not "driving" around. After the stain on the wall dries and all the flies are in bed for the night I'd have to say I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he brings home a finish the car he will be driving is worthy of. By saying that I feel that "go as fast as the car will go" but "sticking it in there" is a gamble many drivers in open wheel only make when the driver they are about to over take is aware and willing to concede you are faster. Hence the big taboo on blocking. I sure hope he is not made the fool of by causing something that is of obvious fault and thus be labled the outsider who ruined the race, some cars and without intervention someones health. I hold my glass to high to him in the fact he is getting it done and behind all those "Mot%*r Fu*#er" comments rests a guy who just wants to race ....just not in a circus.

Danica Patrick offering Kurt advice and tips... Is she going to text Tony Kanaan and relay the message to Kurt?

She's gonna teach him how to let go of the steering wheel during a crash lol

Has he ever raced an indy car???

No, but he did do and passed the rookie deal last year.

He is a good driver but is crazy to atempt indy.... He will get himself or someone else killed...

I think this is a mistake. For one thing he isn't doing so hot in NASCAR and maybe ought to focus on that? Making your first open wheel start at that race is insane to me. I hope no one gets hurt by this stunt. I don't like him as he is one of the biggest assholes in racing. I won't be watching the boring race anyway.

Yes, Indy is dangerous as hell. But Kurt's a wheel man. If he listens to Michael and minds his mirrors he'll be fine.
