STAGE 3 TRACKING

STAGE 3: SAN RAFAEL > SAN JUAN

Connection 295km | Special Stage 301km | Total 596km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors of the 2014 Dakar will experience their first taste of the mountains by passing through the Pre-Andes. The Aconcagua Volcano stands 6,962m high and will observe the progress of the vehicles, of which a part will rehearse their high mountain driving techniques. The motorcyclists will climb up 4,300 metres during their special stage, on a ridgeline where they will have the impression of towering over the whole of America! The descent will bring them back to the tough reality of the drivers of the Dakar, as they will only have finished the first part of this marathon stage. They will have to ensure the mechanics for their own vehicles at the isolated bivouac which has been set up for them.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

"Disappointing news continue to strike the Americans, as Peter Hajas and Kevin Selchow of Brenthel Industries have officially been disqualified from the race. As with BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon, the Brenthel car faced vapor lock issues on day 2. They had to cross the dunes at night after their delay earlier in the special yesterday. Peter and Kevin did not get into the bivouac in time to take the start today, ultimately putting them out of the 2014 Dakar Rally"

That is really sad. Really wonder what that fuel is made off.

" I think" they must use pump gas at any gas station similar to mex 85

I don't think my car would even start with that shit gas

Was it due to the CRAP fuel? Who supplied the fuel....They have no control of what is supplied to them how in the hell were they supposed to overcome something totally out of their control!...I call Bull Shit on ASO

I feel bad for the Minnesotan. I sure hope that they give er a go next year, we need all the Americans we can in this event for a lot of reasons. Jeez, you would think with all the problems that teams are having with fuel the ASO would at least address it. I do not remember anything like this in the past.
