The 37-year-old Leffler, a two-time winner on the Nationwide Series, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m., New Jersey State Police said.

Thank you for the update Bigzoom. That is sad. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends as well.

Terrible news, thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I feel especially bad for his little boy

This is sad news. Never like to see this happen and because of the great safety measures that have been implemented in all racing, its never happens often.

RIP Jason Leffler.

Unfortunately a simple safety feature could've likely prevented his death. Leffler did not run a leftside headrest & unfortunately when the left side of his car impacted the wall at the angle it did (kind of "tilted over" towards the left side) it allowed his head to hit the wall (according to those that were at the track). There is no way to be certain if a leftside headrest would've meant he'd be alive today but it appears that would've been the case.
