Even though Robby Gordon will not be racing at Daytona, here is a thread for those who still WANT to talk about Nascar and their first event of the year. Duel races are on Thursday ( Feb 21st ) and the race is on Sunday ( Feb 24th ) . Here is a snapshot of the backup car from 2012, many didn't know it was a black.

Will he ever race nascar again, it may be fun to watch him in the dirt, but nascar is the only circuit I can actually watch him and with sponsership he can at least make several million for sure just for racing unlike getting millions in sponsership to run the dakar for a winning prize of $10,000, really why bother? Sponsership doesnt pay bills to run anything else other than a 14 day race. Im sorry, just dont see how this is a benefit, he can make more finishing 43rd in one race for a year. Go ahead and argue and criticize what im saying, but please back it up with proof so I dont feel so stupid for seeing obvious things in front of my face. Thanks fellow planet members.

world wide exposure, priceless
(nobody out side of northern north america gives a shit about Nascar)

+1

If I was going to "make a living" being stressed out of my mind at every turn, never get a fair shake and wonder how the hell to keep the lights on each week and pay my employees or "make a living" having a damn blast, being respected as a top three man, have "my guys" paid up and have a functioning shop in the green.............I'd do that..............Like the time I got MrS. Bramndherbresterbig to pay me on Monday to Shovel her driveway on Wednesday when it was going to be 55 degrees on tuesday.

Mrs. Bramndherbresterbig? That's some good shit. Whoosh!

Incorrect. Sorry, but if you've never been to a Daytona 500, you really have no idea what you're saying. People come from every part of the world to watch that race. The exposure for running, winning, or being noticed at the Daytona 500 far out weighs 5 Dakar rallies in South America. I love both races, but I'm not biased like some of you are about NASCAR. NASCAR far out weighs Dakar in just about every form of marketing structure I could create. Where do you see anything, marketing wise, regarding Dakar? Last I checked, you have to know what Dakar is before even noticing anything relating (which is very minimal). American's spend the most money of any country on any form of merchandise, products, etc relating to marketing ads. Not SA, not Europe, not Africa. The only worldwide form of motorsports that compares marketing wise (that people give a shit about) is F1. Beyond that, very few people notice.

I agree that the international exposure is priceless for Dakar, and I love and follow Dakar, but it is ignorant to say that it far out weighs NASCAR in exposure. That is a completely ignorant and biased statement. Forture 500 comanies tell the truth in where they spend their dollars.

So if I lived in the UK and I wanted to watch the Daytona 500, what UK television network would it be on?

LANGUAGE ALERT.......Check out this video from the stands. Is the guy in the Orange SPEED shirt (about the 22 sec mark) one of ours?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mDiKZi3...

(But his lunch box is that other Gordon)

Just saw NASCAR tried unsuccessfully to get this removed from YouTube.

Its even front and center on aol " the video nascar doesnt want you to see " . The good news is ( as of the time im typing this 12:07 pm est ) no was killed .

I was in Montreal, when Massa went staight on the U turn and his rear wheel tore off and landed in the stands. No was hurt. Amazing crowded stands were able to part as the wheel the fence and landed in the stand. Some fans you be getting very rich in Daytona. I have not read the fine print on Nascar tickets, but I am sure they have something in there to protect them from any liability.

Anyway, nascar is for girls........ Danica, Danica, Danica.

Yes, the fine print is there. I just hope NASCAR doesn't have a knee jerk reaction to this. And I can pick many other better girls for NASCAR.
