Just a reminder that Sunday, January 13th is the Dakar Rally REST DAY. Stage 9 is on Monday, January 14th.

Cars will begin the Stage 9 special section at 8:00am/et.

Firstly,

Thanks TOG for the site - I'm a paid member...but, still really appreciate the hard work that goes into summarizing everything for me.

Second,

What does everyone think about this route changing? While I certainly don't want anyone to be injured or worse killed...it sure seems like "rain" and "rivers" is just part of it.

This is one of the things I can't STAND about the way the ASO officiates this. Instead of calling the race - why don't they just highlight a couple of places to cross the river?

It must be so frustrating for the drivers and teams to be competing with ever changing rules. I'm sure I'm ignorant as to the real danger - but damn, this is entertainment...it's supposed to be exciting.
