STAGE 8 TRACKING

STAGE 8: SALTA > SAN MIGUEL DE TUCAMAN

Connection 379km | Special Stage 470km | Total 849km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Tucuman route will be divided into two timed sections with a variety of scenery. With hoodoos, canyons and cacti, the competitors will discover the red and green backdrop of Argentina’s most beautiful natural landscape, which will unfold for more than 150 km creating a Western atmosphere. During the second half of the timed section, which will take place in a region completely unknown to the Dakar, the contrast will be apparent on the sandy and sometimes tricky tracks. It may also be manifested through the weather conditions, if the wind is combined with the high temperatures which ravage the region. The rest day will rarely have been more deserved, in particular for the motorcyclists who will finish their marathon stage..

I like this idea

That's one thing about racing. The governors can NEVER waver from fairness and honesty. This is a tough race to keep on the up and up. Fourteen days of this. Truly an amazing race.

I commend the governors of the Baja 1000 this year, for acting justly on the cheating that took place.

I think the ASO should investigate this day more. If I was a governor, for one, I would want to know who was crossing the water while Nasser was making his call?

So based on what you are saying Nassar should either be DQ'ed or loose a ton of time.
We are talking well over an hour.
Do you think if he was down over an hour with his attitude he would finish this race?
I do not..
He would either Quit, Crash Out driving like an asshole or blow that buggly up.

I am betting it would be the last choice of blowing it up so he could blame it all on the car builder.

Very perplexed why everyone who did not finish would not get the time of the last car to finish. Forgetting politics, seems like the most fair decision in the case of river they could not cross.

he should be down the time it took to get to the finish,no different than it took Robby to be right'd and finish stage 4.
if he didn't finish before the course closed DQ'd
he started within 15 minutes of Robby (as my tired memory servs)

The thing is that there were cars that finished the stage that started long after Alibaby and they completed the stage so he should be "at the least" docked their starting time plus the time they took to get to the finish.

I am done ranting which I am sure you will all be happy about by now.

Sorry for the bitching.

Have a great rest of the evening and we will do it all again Monday.

I can't tell if the sarcasm tag was set or not. When it comes to the ASO, the phrase, "The governors can NEVER waver from fairness and honesty." is an oxymoron.

Yeah. I'd sure like to have a real view of what went on, when calls were made, how many cars passed Nasser, etc. But looking at the official Dakar website, it appears that they've already removed the fact that only 9 cars made it to the ASS point. I'd wager that they've already made up their minds on this one. I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe governors appear honest with swift decisions. Perhaps it appears you are tinkering and strategizing if you wait on a decision. I want to see them weigh the evidence. Be thoughtful and forthright. If a questionable judgement call is at hand then own that too. It's only life here we are living. Let's live it honestly and enjoy something as wonderful as the Dakar as best as we can.

They have Ray because if you look at the overall times they have been set.

This whole deal has me bent out of shape and it just sucks ass, I'm not sure how the ASO keeps/has credibility with this decision???
