Hearing Motorola could possibly be back with RGM, not sure if it would be this year or next, or even off-road. Heard it would be promoting their new GPS Navigation Device "MOTONAV"

While not packing nearly the pizazz offered in the AURA, Motorola's two freshest navigators don't look half bad. Up first is the dead-simple MOTONAV TN20, which provides spoken street names and turn-by-turn directions, NAVTEQ 2D / 3D maps of the continental US and a 3.5-inch touch panel. The slightly more sophisticated MOTONAV TN30 picks up where the TN20 left off and adds in maps of Puerto Rico and Canada, four million searchable points of interest, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth handsfree support. Both systems include a SD slot for updating maps, a mini USB port for charging, speed limit display with warnings and the obligatory on-screen speed, distance, arrival time, elevation, and distance traveled tidbits

Any sponsorship is good sponsorship right now for Robby Gordon!
Ok, I have to ask. Where did you hear this "news?"
It's the voices in his head!

LOL... JK!
I've said many times in the past, I have a strong media connection (family member) in the Charlotte area. He knows I'm a huge Robby fan and he lets me know anytime he hears anything about Robby, You would be stunned how many crew members love to tell what they hear. Also if a an employee of a company, say Motorola for example, has word about something happenning down the road, some employees love to share and be the one to break the news.

He texted me with this info yesterday. Again, no idea if it's a one time thing, this year, next year, off road...just that Motorola would be promoting their MOTONAV with Robby. With Garmin in Nascar and Motorola having troube with their telecommunication conflict with Sprint...makes sense. Have no idea if it's one race, many races, on his driver's suit, decal on the car...or any details. Just passing the info along...
Does hearing things straight from RG's mouth, count ? lol
That was the reply of the year. Well done ! LMFAO !
HAHA
Hey Zoom, I was just kidding above...

Moody said yesterday that garage chatter is at an all time high but that 95% of it ends up being just that... chatter. Still for us slugs here on internet boards it helps burn the time talking about it. Thanks for your contribution Zoom.

Oh, and yes... I have no life. LOL!
No prob. My source has been either dead on or close (which means something was in the works, but for whatever reason it didn't happen..Example: Robby buying Yates last year.)

I agree chatter is at an all time high, with tons of employees getting laid off from teams, you have alot of upset guys willing to tell everything they know.

I haven't posted it yet, because I didn't agree, but with the GM - Chrysler merger it's a high chance Dodge will be phased out after 2009. Hearing (again words from upset employees) that Robby wants to stay with Dodge and get engines from Penske next season, that's his preference, as long as he gets some technical support or can share testing info with Penske, but as much as I hate to admit it, hearing Yates alliance might be an option, thanks to Menards. Menards will be the biggest boost to Yates and if he wants Robby part of the equation I doubt Yates will oppose.

I still think Robby is like most teams waiting to see what happens with the merger. After the deal is announced I expect all Dodge teams to start making plans soon.
The good thing about Robby is he can pick and choose which mfg. to go to, and it's not that hard of a swap as he leases engines anyways. A Yates deal would be nice, but he's low on the pecking order, and you know Jack will have a say in it. Honestly, do you think Jack wants Yates to share testing info with RGM? I high doubt it. If he went the Penske route, I think he'd be treated better.

Just my .02 cents worth.
AMEN!!! (Jack Rousch is the DEVIL)
Bleak days ahead for Motorola

Motorola shares are down 6% today to around $5 after the company gave a double-whammy of bad news: Fourth-quarter results would miss expectations, and the struggling mobile unit will just get weaker next year.

The company will lay off about 3,000 people, and won't spin off its mobile group as early as it had hoped. The mess at Motorola is just too big to clean up quickly. It might be too late to turn this company around, but co-CEO Sanjay Jha is trying.

"The reality is there is no quick fix here," said Jha, who has only been on the job for a couple of months. It doesn't help that Motorola doesn't have any superstar phones to sell this quarter. Screwing up the holiday season gives you a pretty good idea of how clueless management has been this year in planning, design and execution.

No wonder Motorola had to turn to Google and Microsoft to power its phones.

The fourth quarter will see a decline in phone sales and a bigger loss. The problems will continue at least through the first half of next year.

At least Jha has a plan of attack. He wants to cut 4.5% of the workforce (the 3,000 jobs), and make some other cuts to save a total of $800 million in costs next year. He's also going to concentrate Motorola's business in its strongest areas, including North America.

Motorola still sells a lot of phones. It shipped 25.4 million of them in the quarter. That's down from 37.2 million phones a year ago, though, mostly because the company doesn't have a blockbuster phone anymore. The Razr's heyday is long gone, and no product has been able to take its place.

Motorola will start using Google's Android operating system to power its phones, but the first Android phone won't come out for another year.

Bottom line: This next year will be really hard on Motorola. Management is trying to roll out a top-to-bottom overhaul, but rivals like Nokia and Samsung are zooming by while Motorola is stalled. No one is sure if the company can climb out of this hole.
