Robby Gordon unlikely to run NASCAR in 2013 - UPDATE "Never rule anything out" 12/21/12

Not a big surprise to some of us...

Robby Gordon, who raced his way into the Daytona 500 last year as part of a light NASCAR schedule, is not scheduled to do any NASCAR racing in 2013. Spokesperson Alison McCabe said she doesn't think Gordon will participate in NASCAR due to his involvement in his new racing project, Robby Gordon's Stadium Super Trucks series. The 12-race off-road stadium series will debut April 6 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The Stadium Super Trucks series will be televised by NBC and the NBC Sports Network. Sponsorship woes with his self-owned team led to him racing only three times in 2012: the season-opener at Daytona, race No. 2 at Phoenix and the road-course race at Sonoma. He failed to qualify for early-season races at Las Vegas and Fontana. (12/19/12)

UPDATE: "With Robby's attention towards the 2013 Dakar Rally and the inaugural season of Robby Gordon OFF-ROAD's Stadium SUPER Truck Series (SST), there has been a lot of speculation regarding his future NASCAR plans. We are all focused on providing an exciting kick-off to the 2013 SST season at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ on April 6th. At the same time, we would never rule out the possibility of running selected NASCAR events."(RGM/Spokesperson Alison McCabe)(12-21-2012)

I'd say like a 1% chance of doing NASCAR . Almost as much chance as the Buffalo Bills winning the Super Bowl lmao

Almost as much of a chance as you giving up the reins of the nazicar bandwagon, right?

I was think with the talent in NNS this coming year there will be a significant increase in viewership. Penske has some power plants kicking around and Dodge Challenger is a sharp looking hot rod, why not shake it up a bit at Mid-Ohio, Charlotte or Dover. Just thinking, dreaming & hoping...tis the season!

tog i may need corrected here but i believe the year was 2002 with a menard engine and last year with his own engine thats two years in the history of rgm that he didn't have a car capable of winning the daytona five hundred all you need is a few minor changes to his own cars and the same penske engine why would you go to a nns race when you could win at daytona

Dodges are no longer legal legal in Cup. There isn't a 6th generation body that is approved and last years bodywork is out.

They can be used in NNS w/ no factory backing. But I was under the impression that he didn't get any anyway.

2005 was the Menard motors. He would need more than a few minor changes for his current Cup cars, and he would need a sponsor to foot a huge bill.

Yes, but the good thing about the Menards engines were that it kept the mosquito infestation down at the tracks
CUP engines and NNS engine are not the same thing.I don't believe Roger is giving away Dodge engines for Christmas

for probably about 90.000.00 he might

I know they're not the same, but don't know the difference either. I think there's about 200hp. I also think if no one is using the Penske NNS engine in NNS, then maybe they're not the top dollar inventory they once were. I have no idea the cost at the peak of last year vs today, but I would think they value has substantially decreased. My thought was this maybe a better recipe for being competitive in what should be a very competitive & viewed NNS series. Not a full season, just a pick and choose season with Speed & if allowed SST on it. Remember, I'm just trying to make conversation for those of us that dare to dream.

top dollar would be the key word dave i was just thinking that there was a couple back up cars in talledega with penske engines the value of those should be somewhat less than a couple months ago .mike may be able to answer this but i don't think they are the same block or heads used in nns keep wishing for santa.
