Robby Gordon responds to Peterhansel calling him a cheater

Robby Gordon talks about entering the 2013 Dakar Rally after one of his competitors makes a comment about him and his HUMMER
PETERHANSEL COMMENTING ON ROBBY GORDON ENTERING THE 2013 DAKAR RALLY:
“This is a cheater born, we are here to compete, not for show race, and this is not the circus, even if it pleased the audience.”
“We must fight on equal terms, Robby Gordon must comply with the rules. If this is the case, it is welcome. Otherwise. Not!”
PETERHANSEL IS NOT ONLY CALLING YOU A CHEATER BUT CALLING YOU A SHOWMAN RATHER THAN A RACER, HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO THAT?
RG: I take that personal, the fact he is calling me a cheater or my team a cheater. We explained our system last year to A.S.O. at initial technical inspection and we did not change anything from that day of initial tech on our car until the day they saw our car, saying it wasn't legal. With all that said what Peterhansel needs to understand is this is the entertainment business and it is not just about racecars. If it was just about racecars we would all be driving diesel powered Mini’s and they would sound like a bunch of sewing machines.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HIM TALKING ABOUT FIGHTING ON EQUAL TERMS?
RG: We are really excited to go to the Dakar, last year A.S.O. can say we were disqualified, but to be honest with you at the end of the day we finished 5th and it wasn’t worth fighting with them. So we'll accept whatever we have to accept, but in regards to Peterhansel and playing fair and square, we played by the rules A.S.O. told us we could play by last year and they came and inspected our cars for 2013 and we are ready for the challenge. Last year if you take out the stages I had to tow Al-Attiyah around we would have been easily ahead of Peterhansel at that point. This year our car is even better fine tuned, we’ve had more time to work on it. Even with the inflation disconnected last year, I want to remind Peterhansel that we beat him 10-15 minutes a day when we wanted to go. So he's going to have to tighten his seat belts and we are ready for the battle. There is STILL nothing Monster, about his Mini!

What I really like about the Qatar quad is its short wheel base and high stance. Those big tires and over all equation of varying factors in the world of physics such as kenetic energy and cintrifigal force will have this vehicle running balls out in the rally. What I Love about it is how these same attributes will make for a great show when it is barrel rolling down the backside of a steep dune or hillside twist. You heard it hear first folks in post # 194 that one of them things is going for a wide ride.

It will be a toss-up on which 1 rolls 1st. Nasser will surely overdrive it and Carlos will probably be a little cautious at 1st then have to push too hard to try and catch up or just loose it from not being used to the power and 2wd. I give Carlos better odds of finishing than Nasser.

For me the Mini's just aren't that entertaining. Don't get me wrong, they are very proficient, and using a ton of money to develop them, they should be. Add to that putting some of the best drivers in the world behind the wheels of these things they get results. And they should. But they just aren't very exciting. You of all people know that events need to be entertaining or they will cease to exist. I think, and I'm sure that you will agree with me, that it would be beneficial for all parties involved for there to be more of a presence for the Dakar here in the United States. People are missing out on one of the best races in the world. But, the Dakar has suffered from being a little dull when presented in a television format. Yes, the terrain the cars go thru is damn near impossible, but seeing the same type of cars driving thru the dunes and canyons gets boring quick to the average fan here in the States. The Hummer of Robby Gordon changes that. Running the Dakar in a Baja type vehicle is so exciting. People want to see a car flying thru the dunes, jumping stuff, drifting, throwing sand and rocks, and generally ripping sh*t up. Americans love bigger and badder and the Hummer provides that. Even the buggies of Nasser and Sainz potentially may provide that. The mini's.. not so much. Without the show the event will go away due to lack of interest.
