Robby Gordon talks about entering the 2013 Dakar Rally after one of his competitors makes a comment about him and his HUMMER

PETERHANSEL COMMENTING ON ROBBY GORDON ENTERING THE 2013 DAKAR RALLY:

“This is a cheater born, we are here to compete, not for show race, and this is not the circus, even if it pleased the audience.”
“We must fight on equal terms, Robby Gordon must comply with the rules. If this is the case, it is welcome. Otherwise. Not!”

PETERHANSEL IS NOT ONLY CALLING YOU A CHEATER BUT CALLING YOU A SHOWMAN RATHER THAN A RACER, HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO THAT?

RG: I take that personal, the fact he is calling me a cheater or my team a cheater. We explained our system last year to A.S.O. at initial technical inspection and we did not change anything from that day of initial tech on our car until the day they saw our car, saying it wasn't legal. With all that said what Peterhansel needs to understand is this is the entertainment business and it is not just about racecars. If it was just about racecars we would all be driving diesel powered Mini’s and they would sound like a bunch of sewing machines.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HIM TALKING ABOUT FIGHTING ON EQUAL TERMS?

RG: We are really excited to go to the Dakar, last year A.S.O. can say we were disqualified, but to be honest with you at the end of the day we finished 5th and it wasn’t worth fighting with them. So we'll accept whatever we have to accept, but in regards to Peterhansel and playing fair and square, we played by the rules A.S.O. told us we could play by last year and they came and inspected our cars for 2013 and we are ready for the challenge. Last year if you take out the stages I had to tow Al-Attiyah around we would have been easily ahead of Peterhansel at that point. This year our car is even better fine tuned, we’ve had more time to work on it. Even with the inflation disconnected last year, I want to remind Peterhansel that we beat him 10-15 minutes a day when we wanted to go. So he's going to have to tighten his seat belts and we are ready for the battle. There is STILL nothing Monster, about his Mini!

Those Mini's are cute not my style but they are good. But one must not forget that BMW/Team Mini Monster, or whatever, put some serious money in to the team. Probably triple if not more than what Robby does in his team.
So for the money they put into the team those things better be fast or it will lights out for the team equally as fast.
I'm a Robby guy I like showmanship because that is what it is all about the show. Because no show, no spectators no viewers, no income it's that simple.
As a Dutch person I watch the Dakar because of two things the trucks and Robby Gordon.

I have respect for a good rivalry and if someone wants to be a mini than thats there choice, But respect ends when you have a CANDY ASS driver that thinks his shit smells like roses and has the gall to call a fellow racer a cheater when he himself commits the most heinous act ever by hitting a fellow racer with his vehicle and doesn't even think twice about it!!!!

It's great to know how so mnay people know the facts with out any of you being there..have you spoke with the Bike Rider ?.. I Have..

Smoking something Joe I guess I can't believe my lying eyes.

what facts do you need? If someone is walking across the street and gets their foot stuck in a hole is it ok to hit them and drive off cause your in a hurry? He didn't even try to slow down or move over to avoid him...or was the camera footage alterted?

the video shows you nothing to how the situation was handled..and all you have to go on is what you see and hear...

Oh I heard the situation was handle in the paddock after the race but that doesn't excuse the fact that he didn't even stop after he crossed the water to check on the guy to make sure he was ok. In my opinion the bike rider was very gracious

Let's just say that this year coming Dakar 2013 is going to be one to watch..and Im Sure RG will be on his A Game..no Doubt..but that's what we all want Right ..A Good Race..

I will agree with you on that Joe

I'd like to remind the Planet members,Mr Parsons was at this years event first person. As far as the motorcyclist and Stephane, it's between them,IMO. DAKAR has two driving elements, liaison's and racing. There deal happened while racing
Joe you seem like a great guy , your only fault is having Monster green in your blood instead of SPEED orange . Lol .
