2012 Sonoma Race Weekend Info & Discussion

Join in here and discuss all the weekend action for the 2012 Sonoma cup race. Robby Gordon will attempt to qualify the #7 Mapei Dodge into the field on Friday & will run the full race on Sunday. Gordon finished 18th at this track in 2011 & won the race in 2003. Here is the weekend schedule for RGM at the California track.

FRIDAY , JUNE 22nd

Practice 3:00pm - 4:30 pm/et ( TV - SPEED )
Qualifying 6:40pm - 8:00 pm/et ( TV - SPEED - TAPE DELAY AT 11:00pm/et )

Practice 12:30pm/et - 1:15pm/et ( TV - NONE )

ye of little faith...this ain't RG's first Rodeo. Gotta' get the car in the show first...to be the show! All day Saturday to get the car right...Then put it too em' Sunday!

Sitting up here in the Great Northwest again this year (Idaho) with no SPEEDTV and no SPEED Energy in this whole state. Will have to track on computer today , hope for a good Q run . Good Luck RG MAY THE ROAD COURSE Gods be with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any chance RG may have intentionally not run a fast lap late in practice in order to get an earlier qualifying position for better track temp/conditions?

Doubt it. Hes going to go out around 4:00 instead of 5: - 5:30. Id think it would be cooler later in the session.

I read something earlier about the "marine layer" and cooler weather the would burn off late afternoon... Possibly warmer later? Just speculating...

I don't think there is a Marine base in the area, but there is a Navy.
