Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 12 of the 2012 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon finished 25th in stage 11 & is now down over 2 hours in the overall standings. COURSE OVERVIEW

Only a flight over the region can allow the Nazca Lines, mysterious motifs created in the ground more than 2,000 years ago, to be admired. The route of the special stage creates another line on the map of Peru which looks like a sand dragon. Although the areas of dunes are evenly spread out, the competitors will definitely remember one of them, which made a deep impression on the reconnaissance team. The dunes follow one after another continuously for almost twenty kilometres, transporting the drivers to a new dimension. As the sand will remain firm in this string of dunes, it will help the drivers to cross them without too much difficulty. But the most skilled dune-crossers will nevertheless be able to create a surprise, in particular three days before the final finish. Those who remember how to perform the "Mauritanian swerve" can save some precious minutes.

ext stage, long connection, something to "make-all-sleepy" and then sharp,edgely start into dunes, I think very difficult stage by me, I know that places very well, there´s no second to be out of attention: stupid water on your left hand and wet, deep sand on right. I killed there on this playa X3 two years ago and without an army truck help, the bmw will be still waiting for me...And I was no competitor, just walking playa.....

FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!! the one day i'm not around the computer to check on Robby, he fucking blows the competition away!!!! Way to go out there and kick their asses Robby and Hummer Speed Energy team..

how many actual stages or real racing are there left? I know 13 is but wasn't sure about 14. Couldn't remember if 14 is and then 15 is the end or if 14 is it because if memory serves me correct, they really don't race hard on the last stage??

There are 2 more stages: Nasca - Pisco on the 14th and Pisco - Lima on the 15th.

I'd really like to see those Minis...uhh...come into contact with one another. :)

Not much of a race on the Pisco - Lima stage though, it will be more of a parade.
