STAGE 12 TRACKING

STAGE 12: Arequipa > Nasca

Connection 412km | Special Stage 245km | Total 657km

COURSE OVERVIEW

Only a flight over the region can allow the Nazca Lines, mysterious motifs created in the ground more than 2,000 years ago, to be admired. The route of the special stage creates another line on the map of Peru which looks like a sand dragon. Although the areas of dunes are evenly spread out, the competitors will definitely remember one of them, which made a deep impression on the reconnaissance team. The dunes follow one after another continuously for almost twenty kilometres, transporting the drivers to a new dimension. As the sand will remain firm in this string of dunes, it will help the drivers to cross them without too much difficulty. But the most skilled dune-crossers will nevertheless be able to create a surprise, in particular three days before the final finish. Those who remember how to perform the "Mauritanian swerve" can save some precious minutes.

The rains that created mud pits a few days ago apparently made the heavy dunes treacherous. So they dropped them, probably for the bikes safety.

RG ate their ass that leg....GAS ON!!!!!!

1st through wp2

No iPad chat today?

1st through WP2 1' 48 better then Peterhansel......

Sweet! Holowczyc is pushing hard though, in case there is a slip up. Sadly I don't think we have a chance of De Ville slipping up, he is to old of a hand at this.

CP 3 just checked in:

Funny they are not mentioning RG at all in the Live Chat

because they have basically already DQ'ed him ya think?

It's because he started so far back. He was 42 minutes behind the leaders at the beginning of the stage, so the leaders were almost 3 check points in before they had his first times up.

It's just too bad that the stage winner can't pick their starting spot... Would love to see Robby starting tomorrow right behind the Mini Peter.
Oops! I extend my most sincere apologies! I meant the Mini driven by Mr. Peterhansel

I guess you have a good point. Guess i being optomistic
