Exactly those straps are tough and the ratches are tougher, someone left it loose. these are the kind of mistakes that are 100% preventable and will take you out.

Ya Think!!

As good as the Hummers are, the Mini's have many more test miles. The race is not over and maybe the other truck will be there in a couple of days.

from Dakar.com:

car 300 - Nasser saleh AL-ATTIYAH

Disappointed again!

The spare wheel was loose and it hit the engine water pipe, breaking it and after the temperature was very high, so we stopped to repair again and lost a lot of time. But what can I do? I was really having a good run, I was doing my maximum but I don't know what's wrong, you know. My plan today was to take at least ten minutes from everybody and that's what was happening because I was really fast until CP2, I think. But after, we stopped there because we needed water and to fix and prepare the car. So, yes, I'm disappointed again!

bummer.

Hope he keeps his cool. since we all dont know how he is really, time will tell. Things happen

I wish Nassar well, he is really driving the piss out of his Hummer. I just hope he gets back in this race. He really needs some good luck and flawless runs, and this will also benefit Robby because after tomorrow he will have a set of wide Hummer tracks to follow...I still can't believe he was trying to get 10 minutes on the field, dude is a beast...and maybe it's time to see Robby go alittle Beast Mode now too..

Robby is doing just fine. beast mode will break parts........let him race his new game. ITS WORKING!

I still hold hope for this rally, but what I am most excited about is the obviously strong program Robby is putting together.

You would have to think that Nasser is seeing enough to want to stick with RG for next year. With a full year of preparation and the added support that a driver like Nasser can likely bring in, they would have to feel confident. I really like seeing the teamwork between the two and together I believe they could be a a Dakar force for many years to come.

What he has to take into account is the short notice he gave to get into this car.
All other teams prepare for a year and he wanted to just jump in and drive to the Podium is the way he makes it sound.

In a car/team they put together in 3 or 4 weeks.

I think he's just that optimistic based on the times he's laying down when the hummer is running well. I'm sure he realizes exactly what preparation issues they have faced.

As much as I hate to say it, as was mentioned in an earlier post, many of the Hummer's problems over the last few years seem to stem from lack of testing. The cars are strong, but things which might have been sorted out in testing cut us down.

Given the nature of our operation and budget when compared to the factory teams, it's difficult to see how things could be much different. But no one will be able to come away from this rally saying we did not have the fastest cars.
