Our day started at 6:30am. The team got ready to work. Half of the team stayed back and prepped the hummers. The other half headed out to the port to pick up the rest of the equipment and our assistance trucks(f2 and f3).
Back at home base, they prepped the hummers and started to go through the checklist, making sure everything is 100%. At the same time Robby, Nasser and their co-drivers went through the hummers, making sure all the proper adjustments were made.

Meanwhile, the second group set off for a two hour drive to the ports, just to receive bad news. The F3 is still waiting on paperwork to go through customs and the f2 is still in the boat! Team Manager Kyle Robbins and Robby got on the phone, immediately, to solve the problem. After waiting for 4 hours for one piece of paper to arrive, they finally released the f3. Once that was squared away, we headed to the warehouse for yet another two hour drive back to load it with the spare parts we may need for the race. We also received some good news, if the boat is moved in tomorrow morning, we will be able to unload the f2. This was only made possible by the ASO and the government getting involved. If not, the boat would have been there till January 4th or 5th. If that occurred, we would have been in stage 4 or 5. For now we will cross our fingers and hope everything goes well tomorrow.

Would think it would be cheaper to run an armed escort and blow anything that got near out of the water. Bet they would have have people willing to pay for a chance to blow the F out of a few pirates.

Better to moar a destroyer outside Somali ports and blow anything bigger than a rowboat out of the water .

Anyone know if the 2nd truck got through?

Pirates.........now I'm not going to get into a history lesson about the country of Somalia or anything, you know world war II and Italy and England and the dismemberment that goes along with leaving a country to it's own devices once the initial damage is done and flip flop occupation has run its course with which the seeds of functionalism have no chance of germinating into a respectable and responsible society. But I will say this (I clear my throat of the mucous- not to be confused with phloem- that builds when I think of global unrest and the civilization of peoples that are far behind the Darwin based version of evolution) Oh yea I was going to say something..............POO!
Snafus such as logistical setbacks in regard to equipment availability are a frustrating aspect to many a plan, a differing animal when failure of parts and pieces are incurred. And then we stand on the sidelines focused on the race at hand, letting go of irritating spots reminding us of one of the clownyest (most clowny?- whatever) political theaters I can recall in my short time as an understanding adult and think "well it could raining".
The Dakar Rally ------let's do this thing!

Okay then, has anyone heard anything on the second F-Liner??
