Mayfield arrested for Meth!

CATAWBA, N.C. -- Catawba County authorities say NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was arrested on drug charges Tuesday evening.

Mayfield, 42, was arrested at his rural mansion on Hudson Chapel Road in Catawba when police found methamphetamines while executing a search warrant for stolen property, according to the Catawba County Sheriff.

He has not been charged with stolen property found in his home, but police tell NewsChannel 36 some of the stolen items are racing memorabilia. Mooresville police and Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies searched the property after receiving a tip.

Mayfield has a court appearance for Wednesday. He is out of jail on a $3,000 bond.

He was suspended from NASCAR after failing a drug test in May 2009

Mayfield attorney statement says that Mayfield had no knowledge of the alleged stolen items nor meth that was found on his property.

I think he was black balled. He was and is probably still is a great driver. Anybody should be allowed to prove their innocence. But, that's tough when your up against NASCAR and their open budget.

Lets keep in mind that its the POLICE that found all this stuff NOT nascar . Yeah nascar may be too powerful for theyre own good as far as RACING goes , but this is something entirely different . The police are able to investigate stuff alot more thouroughly than nascar and with ALOT bigger repercussions . I DO feel sorry for Jeremy and hope that he DOES get his life straightened out but at the same time , he made his bed and now has to lay in it .

I'm thinking France was the tipster or had it set-up. Maybe he found out his wife was having a little some-um some-um going on with a meth head. Didn't his divorce stuff start around the same time???
