Some of the most fun races I ran were HDRA races. Some of the toughest ones too. Glad to see they are back even though my racing days are over.

I second that. I started in off-raod with a company called Raceco. I still remember contingency down Fremont and the large crowds and the ice chest full of beers on the race cars as we pushed them down the street.

Oh man I remember those old days , I never got the chance to experience them first hand but would LOVE to get the chance now . I'm sure all of you here on the planet know how much I love the old school classic race trucks . Wouldn't it be cool to go back to the GOOD OLD DAYS . Just imagine Ivan Stewart , Walker Evans , and all the LEGENDS in today's trucks

Instead of sponsoring a single event like the MI7 in Utah, sponsoring the entire 2012 HDRA desert season would not be a bad idea. Putting marketing money behind good people that are reviving a storied series with a ton of history would not be a bad idea, might be a bargain also. Just my .02

How about as a happy medium RG moves this race to Las Vegas next year with HDRA sanctioning? I don't expect to see many spectators at this race in Utah. Utah is just not what I would call a hot bed of off-road racing. Racing of any type has never been a popular sport in Utah, only basketball. Basketball is the official sport of the LDS church and nothing else is important. As I mentioned in another message string going to Utah is like going to a different country. A country that is closely monitored by a church. I was stuck there for a year working and I saw it first hand. That was 35 years ago, but not much changes there so I am sure all is about the same

As far as spectators driving from California, that's about 700 miles each way and few will make the drive. I would go if it was 100 miles, maybe even 200 miles away, but not 700 each way. Personally, I think this is a very poor location for this race. I hope I am wrong though.

Thing is this race is being run on private property so they don't have to worry about the BLM like they have to in Nevada , California , or Arizona . Also they don't have to worry as much about insurance . These 2 reasons are mostly why the Primm race was moved to San Filipe . Insurance is also part of the reason Sal Fish was so rough on not only Robby but alot of other drivers at this yrs Baja 500 about the doughnuts Robby did as well as other drivers being penalized
