very true statement and hopefully an audible is called this week. running good and up front should be a moral boost for the team for a few days if only they could find somebody to jump on board!
" We are all just along for the ride, enjoy it"
Good job by Robby those last few laps to get to the 18th place finish. By getting the car locked in for Daytona that pretty much allows the team to run its D car out there and go into super-money saving mode.

Of course I'd much rather run the race, but I am not the one who has to pay the bills.
We all know that those bills could be big at Daytona, so I wuld think that is the reason why. As for Sonoma, the plan looked like it was to pit 3 times and get 4 mpg or better. This all went out the window with the wrong tire code debacle. During the power steering problem I can not beleive they didn't hear me screaming from Ohio to stay out and deal with it. I knew they would open the hood and see nothing especially after it was reported that the back of the car was not oily from a leak. When Robby had the right tires he looked very good like a top 8 or so car. Apparently the other date code tires had very little grip and he was in the way of nearly everyone. Thebest part at least no qualifying in at Daytona, I assume missing the race would be a small disaster.

"paying the bills" - RGM earned a cool $170,132 for the two car effort.

Now let's get the 77 into the show at Daytona!
S&P is very important. Nascar actually asks teams to S&P so they can have a full field. If they have less than 43 teams Nascar doesn't get their TV money. Teams that qualify get purse money for their finish (keeps the lights on). But qualifying & provisionals are based on attempts. So if RG got to Indy or Watkins Glen and it was rained out, he would be locked in. Teams that don't show up every week will miss a rain out race. The only team that has a bigger advantage is the 21 team with a win. That locks them in if qualifying gets rained out.
So S&P is more about making races than lucrative. Not to mention being in the Top 35 presents alot more opportunities & options than being outside the Top 35.
Robby does have plans next weekend. His sister is getting married. Guess nobody here watched the Iowa IRL race.

As far as what happened to Robby, he's doing better than any other part time team out there. The guys that run up front devote full resources to a Cup car. They have an owner, a crew chief, a driver, an engineering team, a marketing department and they're all separate entities. They also have sponsors, each with their own management team. We have one guy filling every one of these roles. Yes, he has engineers and mechanics but they're under his thumb.

He finished 2nd last year here BUT at the time he was still planning to run a full schedule, said he would never s&p. Reality has a way of putting a dent in the best laid plans. This year he has Dodge support but he's spread even thinner with Speed. So having to choose between devoting full resources; i.e., no off-road, turning the Speed reigns over to others, turning RGM operations over to hired staff and concentrating solely on driving... or doing it all his way, what do you think RG would choose? And would any of us want him to do it any other way?
when tony wrecked out of the race his in car showed him trying to hand something out the window....a nascar official walks by and he pulls it back in the window and then stuck it in his pocket (it looked like) or along side the seat ,,, did anyone else notice that ??? what was it ??? it appeared to be a chip or something... why was it so important to take it from the car before he got out ????
I saw that too. Someone said it was a transponder. I think tony was gonna go nail Vickers
TRACTION CONTROL
The men in the black suits with the dark glasses were coming.
I thought it was his camera or phone... Thought maybe he wanted a pic of his wrecked car.
