Getting lots of conflicting stories about RGM's future for 2009. Hearing 1 of 3 scenarios likely to take place, but alot depends on Menard's decision.

If Menard opts to stay with DEI, Inc., Robby would join DEI and take over the #01 (becoming the #7) in 2009. Giving DEI Truex, Menard, Gordon & Almirola for it's lineup in 2009. Regan Smith would likely run full time in the Nationwide or (if Gordon finishes inside the Top 35 along with the #01, the #01 could run under RGM's banner (pending sponsorship).

If Menard chooses to join Yates Racing then Robby could join DEI but, would need to find sponsorship to replace Menards (possibly Monster?)

or (new twist) hearing after the test at Charlotte, Penske could be a strong possibility. Robby felt very good after the test with his Penske power, and with drivers David Stremme and Sam Hornish still unproven in the Cup ranks, Robby would be in position to replace Newman at Penkse's top along side Kurt Busch.

Supposivley Menard should have a decision soon with an official announcement at Dega or Charlotte.

Bigzoom's credibility just took a minor hit.
Bigzoom is good to go.Glad to have him on board.Sometimes info is wrong.
Garrett please loose the Olan Mills pic...just kidding!
I said a minor hit. I like Bigzoom and his posts, they are always quite entertaining. It did not take inside info to know that Robby was using GEM Motors at Testing, I believe it was posted on jayski when Robby made the agreement with Penske. No biggie, mistakes happen.
supposivley?
I just can't see Robby doing anything that would sever or even diminish his ties with John Menard. I think Robby follows the money.
I think once again this is nothing but speculation and none of us know what he's doing. Any negotiations he's having are private and people the make big deals don't flap their lips until the deal is done because nothing can sour a big deal more than a leak.
Some reporter saw Robby and John Story talking. No DEI deal.
Max also denied that Paul was going to Yates and that Truex was trying to leave. Max is a good businessman and good businessmen aren't always forthright. I don't blame him. If this deal does not go down then you would have to believe that Regan Smith and the #01 team would be a little put off by the whole deal. All I can say is wait and see. The only thing that I would be disappointed in is if we were back at Daytona in 09 and it was still RGM, half funded and with a new engine deal. Robby needs to make his sale now while he still has value. He shouldn't kid himself into thinking new motors are the fix all because they are not. If your chassis/areo/engineering aren't up to par, you can't win.
I hope he ends up with Penske. I think we could deal with Kurt. And I know Robby would listen to Roger as he did with Richard. And the best fringe benefit ever a possible Borg Warner Trophy.
The leadership of Roger Penske and order of Penske Racing is what makes that move favorable. Also they're in a position to be the best Dodge team. And if Dodge pulls out of NASCAR they would likely have a more succesful transfer to another make than the other Dodge teams.

In addition to possible (however unlikely) opportunties in IndyCar, of far more interest to me are the almost certain opportunities in Nationwide and SportsCar (DP and ALMS) events.

Despite that, I still can't stand Roger Penske, but it would be cool to have two of my favorite drivers, KB and RG, on the same team.
That's what I thought about going with Penske......

Be nice to see Robby get into a Penske Racing IRL car at Indy and drive that sum bitch all the way to victory lane.......
