You didn't miss much with Robby. And Kyle and Denny were the class of the field.
I agree with Tim and I'm not trying to second guess the effort of the team but anytime you have ownership of anything you worry about money. This is and has been a problem for car owner/drivers since the prices skyrocketed back in the 80's. You're just not willing to put your car in positions that could cost you 150K or more if you damage it. That combined with the constant crew chief problems will never let this team be anything but a back marker. I'm a long time Robby supporter and still am but I'm trying to find another reason to watch Nascar because the one I had just isn't working.

You kinda emphasise my point about the $ . If Robby had the $ behind him like Johnson or Busch he too would do alot better , Its the same with any sport really . I mean look at baseball football or hockey which teams are always in the playoff ? The teams who can afford to BUY the best players . Would you see Derek Jeter playing for a team with less $ , i think not, or back to racing what if Jimmie Johnson traded rides with Robby for a race or so , Who would be winning races ? As for the crew chief , again it comes down to $ use the same idea with the crew chiefs , put Chad Knaus with Robby in Hendrick cars and see what the results would be .

Money doesn't equal winning... Look at Dale Jr. His team has more money flowing in than GOD... He hasn't won in years. It takes much more than money to win in this sport... So, it's not fair to compare the lack of money to the poor performances. I agree that he might be a top 20 team with $20 mil, but it would take a combination of things to get to the point of winning multiple races....
I try to find another reason to watch NASCAR as well. The only reason I find is that I love racing in general. I'm watching the IRL race as we speak...

What's the difference between unloading fast and missing the set up?
What's the gap between putting the car on pole .vs qualifying in the back?
It's this:

From the green to the checker is 0.785 seconds, the average difference between Robby's qualifying time and the pole time over the first 9 races. Literally a blink and a half of an eye between starting upfront or buried in the pack.
That's how tight the competition is and how razor thin the margin for error.
The difference between a Hendrick, Gibbs, Roush, RCR, budget, resources, and high dollar personnel versus RGM.
Think about it.
That blinking about drove me batty, stop it......................

The point being that all the wailing about getting a Gibbs chassis, starting a second team, hiring Chad Knaus, buying a set up, ad nausea is ridiculous and most often the talking point of those without a clue, without a foot in the door, and without any skin in the game - any game - ever.

I've always said in business I can hire a rhesus monkey to point out problems but finding someone with a real world solution is akin to the needle in the haystack. The answer is not throwing money at it - ask Bobby Ginn. The garage is full of skeletons who tried and failed. The answer is perseverance and ingenuity. Hendrick, Childress, Penske, or Roush didn't drive into the winner's circle year one race one, it took years, even decades, to develop consistent winning programs.
How about a compative program or something close......
