The way his car runs in relation to Evernham cars makes you wonder. At Pocono Kahne was fastest while Robby was slowest. Indy is similar in setup and I dringe at thought of his car being underpowered.in comparison to other Dodges.

Robby skipped Pocono testing. How is that Ray's fault?
I am talking in general because all year his car has not run as well. Not testing wouldn't make that big a difference in motor performance as kahnes car pulled everyone down the straights. Having an agreement with someones motors doesn't always guarantee he same performance but sometimes the difference is glaring.
RGM's motors from GEM have been good. RGM is getting the same motors as whats in the #9. #19, #10, #43 and #45. The reason Kaine was able to pull away on the straits is because what he could do in the corners. Your strait away speeds are based on your corners. If RGM cant get a handle on the tight or loose feelings that we always here RG complainng about then you will never have the speed that a good handling car has.

How you get in a corner will deturmin how you exit a corner. How you exit a corner will effect your speed going down the front and back stretch. You can have all the power in the world, but if you cant get it to the ground then its worthless.
Robby has always had the habit of driving the corners too deep and too hard, and as Nik said, it totally blows his straightaway speed!
to be honest kasey says all the time that his horsepower is way off too so they all want more horsepower i dont know of a driver who dosent want more power

To be honest, I think he should have stuck with Chevy. With Gibbs gone he would have moved up a spot in the pecking order.

I think Robby refused the GEM chassis because the RGM ones were just as good or even better. I think he is getting the same motors as those other guys, its just a matter of getting a setup to work with it.
Toyota seems to be the way to go, but I still think a deal with Chevy again would work. Especially because he uses Hummer for Dakar etc.
Stickin with Chevy was not going to help RGM. RGM is still a one car team and Chevy is only going to give a one car team so much help. Ig RGM would have stuck with Chevy the only differance would have been for the engine merger between RCR and DEI. RGM's motors would have been a little better.

Gibbs is gone from the Chevy camp, but now with Stewart partnering with Haas, Chevy will add them in their line up for engineering support. Chevy has Hendrick, RCR, DEI and now Stewart/Haas. I dont see any room for RGM in that line up. And dont forget Chevy is the first of the manufactures to admite that they will be cutting back, due to economic times.

Ford has Roush and they will always be #1 in Fords eyes. Yates will be 3 cars and being that its technially all Roush they will continue to get good support and equipment.

Toyota now has Gibbs as their flagship team. Red Bull has picked up their performance. HOF, MWR and BDR are all fighting for the bottom of Toyota. If RGM was to move to them, why would RGM do any better then the bottom 3 teams? Does Toyota really need another single car team in their line up? Also Gibbs is still running TRD motors just like the rest of the Toyota teams. So you cant say Gibbs has more power then the balance of the Toyota teams.

Also RGM has not refused the GEM chassis. RGM has a few of them, and they have run them at some tracks. My understanding is, the main reason RGM is still running their own chassis is the fact that RGM was building their fleet of cars way before the partnership of RGM/GEM ever happened. RGM is going to have to use up some cars before they consider buying more cars. Even thought GEM has offered RGM chassis, RGM still has to buy them. A team with 2/3 of seasons funding that already has a full fleet of cars cant afford to just scrap what they have and buy all new cars. I have heard that RGM was able to adapt some things that they found on the GEM chassis onto the RGM chassis.
Please understand that FORD is now ROUSH. He controls everything. FORD has little influence over him. It's the old "tail wagging the dog" syndrome and FORD is really powerless to do anything to change that. So, even though Robby burnt no bridges I'm aware of leaving FORD, I don't think Jack gives a flip about Robby. JMO.
Robby won for Rousch in Daytona 24 hours multiple times soI think he and Jack still get along so I doubt that would have basis for worry.
I think Nikal has told us what the problem is... Money. If Robby could get the $25mil that Gibbs gets from the sponsor of one of his cars then, Robby could get the 7 post time, the windtunnel time, the track time, the tires or whatever he needed to become more successful. With full sponsorship and higher finishes, whatever manufacturer he uses would be more willing to fund their association with him. It is the old money talks game with the money makes money play.
