STAGE 8 TRACKING

STAGE 8: SALTA > SAN MIGUEL DE TUCAMAN

Connection 379km | Special Stage 470km | Total 849km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Tucuman route will be divided into two timed sections with a variety of scenery. With hoodoos, canyons and cacti, the competitors will discover the red and green backdrop of Argentina’s most beautiful natural landscape, which will unfold for more than 150 km creating a Western atmosphere. During the second half of the timed section, which will take place in a region completely unknown to the Dakar, the contrast will be apparent on the sandy and sometimes tricky tracks. It may also be manifested through the weather conditions, if the wind is combined with the high temperatures which ravage the region. The rest day will rarely have been more deserved, in particular for the motorcyclists who will finish their marathon stage..

Right on! Apparently he called in and claimed that he was stuck in the river, when in fact, he'd just got his buggly ass stuck in a ravine. If this is true and it caused the organizers to red flag the stage, not to mention throwing out the WP where Nasser got stuck...well, that's sorta like a born cheater, don't ya think?

I like the way your thinking Ray

But really guys he shoulda been ok in the water afterall SHIT FLOATS lol
Best quote of the Rally so far

Robby could have made up a lot of time today to gain places in the overall, but because of the "rules", all he could manage is 7 minutes on the entire field (sans Chicherit & Terranova). Should have been Peterhansel's time plus an additional amount of time.. perhaps times based on positions at CP2 (WP 8). It's very likely that RG will not win this year's edition of the Dakar, but it is feasible that he could place in the top 10. With his performance and position gain today being negated because of "official's rules" I can see how Rob can be frustrated by this race.

I would certainly not hold it against Robby if he never comes back to this race.
I have waited for years to win it but just like NASCAR.
You have to cut your losses sometime and it is hard to play against teams with unlimited resources.
Why keep playing when the cards are stacked.

Sorry Guys but this one really sticks in my craw.

I understand,Amy's been trying to calm me down for hours

Carl...........grow-up

He lost his chance in winning when the Hummer flipped over and lost 4hrs.
As if losing almost 1hr in in Stage 1 wasn't bad enough.
In order for RG to get to Top 10, He will need to gain 3hrs from the current 10th place.
RG is basically just driving to finish and hope to get a better placement then he currently is or hoping those 14 cars ahead of him breaks down or loses 3+hrs by the 14th stage. And that's without making any more mistakes or losing too much time on RG's part. So 6 stages left and he needs to be ahead of them by about 30mins each day.

Sorry, but it's meaningless now.Robby has been racing since the 4th stage to forced unforce errors,it happen'd today and the official gave it all back.

I can see in the latest video that Nasser was stuck good. I can see him and co-dog out running around. I'm sure fetching a tow.
