Stage 10 - Tuesday, January 13

Copiapo > Copiapo

Connection: 20 km | Special: 666 km | Connection: 0 km | Total: 686 km
The day’s special is simply the longest and most difficult of the rally. As on the previous day, the competitors will face a series of dunes at the end of the day that stretch over a hundred kilometers. And in this area, even the leading specialists will be faced with something new. The Chilean dunes are veritable mountains of sand, and pilots must learn to climb and descend their sides over more than one kilometer. Another unknown: due to the extreme heat of the region, no one knows exactly how the sand will behave. In any case, remaining clear-headed will be imperative all the way to the end.

Fantastic job!!!! Hard to beleive a 21 second margine after 5 1/2 hours. Eric is doing a great job - 7th at the last check point.
Robby now only 21 minutes back of Roma in the overall. and less than an hour off of the podium.
This could be a very big day!
Maybe somebody has already said this but the dakar site shows that Terranova has withdrawn.

301 - Stage victory number 15 for Carlos Sainz!...
The first 3 cars have now arrived at the end of the day’s special stage and it is Spain’s Carlos Sainz (VW) who wins the stage 21" ahead of the Hummer of US driver Robby Gordon, and 7’39 ahead of his US team mate Mark Miller (VW). The already solidly anchored leader in the general standings wins here his 6th stage victory of this year’s rally and its 15th stage victory in the history of the Dakar!
