Stage 10 - Tuesday, January 13

Copiapo > Copiapo

Connection: 20 km | Special: 666 km | Connection: 0 km | Total: 686 km
The day’s special is simply the longest and most difficult of the rally. As on the previous day, the competitors will face a series of dunes at the end of the day that stretch over a hundred kilometers. And in this area, even the leading specialists will be faced with something new. The Chilean dunes are veritable mountains of sand, and pilots must learn to climb and descend their sides over more than one kilometer. Another unknown: due to the extreme heat of the region, no one knows exactly how the sand will behave. In any case, remaining clear-headed will be imperative all the way to the end.

The fog plays tricks on the race...
Due to the strong and persistant fog on the day’s special stage, the medics choppers and the choppers of the organizers have not been cleared for take off yet, as we are writing these lines. For safety reasons, therefore, the day’s special stage has not yet been allowed to start.
Good morning to all as well. I will be doing the Dakar thread and work too. If it weren't for that thing called a paycheck...
VW has paid ASO off. They want a 123 fotr VW's and the coming stage could have broken one of their vehicle. There, I said it. If ASO can make outlandish remarks about my boy Lance kick'a'storm, then so can I.
I would almost have to agree with you.. Seems that when they make a change to a stage... looks like they favor the small vehicles of the big teams.
Robby stage 9 interview up on the main page. He is pissed that todays stage has been shortened.
13:33 - Start scheduled for 9:45AM

The helicopters have just taken off as the fog has now dissipated in the area where the start of the day’s special stage will be taking place. The start of this 10th special stage should now happen at 9:45AM local time with Dutch biker Frans Verhoeven (KTM) starting first.

I was flying from Rio to Santiago about 10 years ago, and after we flew over the Andes the captain came on the speaker and said something in a blur of Spanish, following by the announcement in broken English. Goo Mornee Ladees and gentlemen. We are delayed een landing at Santiago airporte becaus of Fok.

Took me a few minutes to figure out was Fok was. .then I looked out the window and the world was a blanket of white. It do get foggy along that coast.
