Why Toyo tires?

When Robby switched to Toyo was there a reason or just money? I wonder if he talked to Goodyear

Yup, and I was not debating any of that. I was debating the "Goodyear Tires suck, period. Trojan makes better rubber" comment.

Dude, this is like the tenth "tire war" I have seen you involved in here. And although I respect your industry knowledge, the general concensus from the public is that Goodyear sucks!! I wouldn't waste a bit of energy trying to defend them. Nobody on this site is going to sing the praises of any non Robby sponsor!

This is first time I have seen a guy get mad on planet robby. Hey Matt, this place is all about the good chi, maybe you want to get into zen mode and forget about the tires. I good years F1 eagles on my TL, they were a $100 per tire cheaper than the standard Michelin tires that come with my car. I dont have any compaints, but I still think as a racing tire they suck.

Well, I think if they went to a wider tire that would fix the tire problem and the COT. I'm educated in music and not engineering, but it seems to me that a wider tire would also take away some of the reliance on aero and level the playing field. However, I assume Goodyear doesn't want to spend the cash and NASCAR doesn't want to change anything right now. And, of course, a tire war is interesting, but just begs for debacles like the unsafe Hoosiers and the F1US GP a few years back.

I'm cool with Toyo. I usually just buy the cheapest, hardest tire for the road anyway 'cause I'm a cheap-ass. .... anyway, Go Robby!
