December 31st, the Rally Raid starts in Sea Camp, Saudi Arabia and races North than South East before racing to North to the city of Dammam.

03:49David Zille has tasted victory to make it his very first stage win on the Dakar. The Argentinean has beaten Guillaume de Mevius by just 2 seconds. Mitch Guthrie, who led for a good part of the stage, has finished 12’’ behind the winner and holds on to the lead in the general rankings. Austin Jones has finished the day a little less than 9’30’’ behind Zille, allowing de Mevius to increase his lead in the general rankings to 12 minutes.

01:41Ross Branch started the special in 28th place and quietly posted the fastest time at each checkpoint. In the end, he won the stage by 21 seconds over Van Beveren, adding a second victory to his tally in this Dakar and landing Hero MotoSports its third stage win ever. It will have little impact on the standings, as a slew of mechanicals in the early part of the race knocked the Botswanan out of contention for the title. Docherty came in third, 30" back, with Kevin Benavides at 1 minute.
The Argentinian 2021 Dakar champion moved into the overall lead, with the former leader, Skyler Howes, 1'29" back and Toby Price 2'10" down. The fight for the podium is still very close, with VBA at 9'52" in fourth place and Quintanilla and Klein about 15 minutes back in fifth and sixth.

The BRX driver set the fastest time by just over 3 minutes over Mattias Ekström, clawing just under 6 minutes back from Nasser Al Attiyah, still ensconced at the top of the leader board, and coming within 16 minutes of Lucas Moraes, second overall and third today.
