Statement from Frank Bifulco, Chief Marketing Officer of The Home Depot regarding Tony Stewart’s departure from Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the 2008 season: “The Home Depot has had a remarkable relationship with Tony Stewart and Joe Gibbs Racing since our sponsorship commenced back in 1998. With two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships and 32 race wins, Tony is a true competitor and an excellent ambassador for our company. Details regarding our future plans will be announced at a later date.”

The depot would be crazy not to latch onto Joseph Lagano. As much as I hate a superstar jammed down our throats via the media, the kid is a talented fucker who will win many races. A company's dream.
I agree for the most part with you TOG. As talented as Joey is, I am thinking 2009 is at least a year too early to have that boy in Cup. Let him run the full Nationwide schedule next year (at least) with a few Cup races, then bring him up in 2010 at the earliest.
I have to disagree with you on this one TOG. Joey Logano without doubt has talent and a bright future ahead, but Home Depot has 10 years and millions of dollars invested in the Home Depot-Tony Stewart brand. Tony is the face of Home Depot; unshaven, a little beer belly - a regular looking guy that could be your neighbor. I think HD will remain associated with Tony either through a personal services deal and/or as a associate sponsor of Stewart-Haas.

I'm not slammin' Logano, but he would be a hard and expensive sell marketing and branding wise, to the hardcore DIY types. Do you really think HD's customers are going to take building/remodeling advice from some 18-year old kid fresh out of high school seriously?
Maybe scaling back and just being associated with smoke is the way to go for home depot. With home depot closing stores and such. Then again, maybe they won't be so supportive of smoke & nascar with Bob Nardelli gone.
HD was at least cutting back if not cutting out altogether regardless of Tony's situation.

Another rumor floating about, tied to this one, look for Lowes to follow HD's lead.
I bet Tony's food sponsors follow him.
don't forget drinks...schlitz beer! LMAO!!
Yeah, he does need something to wash that pizza down with. Did you see practice or tonight's pre-race show? They caught Tony chewing at least twice, so how could he miss? ROTFLMAO!!!

P.S. He was also shown on Raceday once last season with a huge slice of pizza, taking a bite of it. We died laughing.
great points. Maybe Game Stop goes with Joey to Cup, at least kids his age shop there regularly.
I think you're right. Joey Logano probably won't be appealing to the HD target market. HD is in financial horrors and is reportedly closing 600 stores. Even if they thought a Logano/HD connection could work, which I can't imagine, they can't afford him.

Although I've enjoyed all the Smoke/HD commericals the current and last commerical with HD is my favorite.
When Pigs Fly! LOL!
You know, I just saw one going by the house at mark5!!!! Could have sworn it had a 7 on it! hehehe!!!! Wishful thinking, but in this sport, anything can and will happen!!!!1 Ooooops, there it goes again!!!!
