Please note the course revision on the map, it effects 1/7 and 1/8

Toby is away, starting stage2. Being first out is a double edged sword.

07:20 Price is on his way
Sunday’s winner Toby Price is opening the way on the second stage which today boasts a mainly sandy route. Kevin Benavides, 27 seconds behind the Australian in the general standings, is the next rider to tackle this 457-km long special.

While were waiting on the first motorbike waypoint results, the first SXS would have been 29th on time in Stage 1 against the cars.

Like Stage 1, the first starter is tumbling down the leader board,

Stage 2 motorbikes
13:04 Barreda wins!
Having led from the first time check point, Joan Barreda has dominated stage two to pick up his 25th special stage victory on the Dakar and climb to the top of the general standings, emulating his countryman Marc Coma in fourth position in the all-time ranking of special stage victories in the bike race!

13:09 Exit for Andrew Short
After three very impressive participations and especially a 6th-placed finish obtained in 2019, American Andrew Short has met with disappointment on the second stage. He ground to a halt after 273 km of the special due to a mechanical problem that he has not been able to fix. Convinced that it was not necessary to wait for help from his assistance team, he has thrown in the towel and has been airlifted from the stage by one of the organiser’s helicopters.

Stage 2 cars
14:39 Al-Attiyah wins!
After starting in tenth position, Nasser Al-Attiyah has won stage two by 2’35 in front of Stéphane Peterhansel. The Frenchman led for the majority of the stage, but can console himself with almost 7 minutes gained on Carlos Sainz (who finished third) as well as, more importantly, the lead in the general standings.

Sadly the time difference makes it very hard to watch this live.
Having to work sucks......
