Stage 5 - Wednesday, January 7
Neuquen > San Rafael
Connection: 173 km | Special: 506 km | Connection: 84 km | Total: 763 km
The major test of the first week of the race will perhaps be fought on the road to San Rafael. The long distance will oblige teams to remain concentrated at all times. The pilots will also be confronted with real dune passageways, including a range nearly twenty kilometers long. Long off-road stretches will alternate with much more technical sections in the track following the “rios”. The Cordillera can be seen on the horizon, but taking time to sightsee is out of the question: a too-late arrival at the bivouac always leaves a mark.

I guess we will have to wait till the Monster deal is up to see if they re-up
Not only the Monster deal, but the GM deal. I don't think Monster will walk away, Red Bull and other energy drinks are too high profile with the off road crowd. GM on the other hand, I could totally see walking away.
I think Monster was after the International side of the advertising than the US side with the Dakar.......lots of people follow the Dakar all over the globe
Tracker is dying a slow death!
Man..those Volkswagons are kicking some ass....
I've been more impressed by the BMWs. I expected the VWs and Mitsubishi to be up front, with the BMWs at the next level with the Hummer. The second Hummer is a complete no show and the BMWs are right up in the mix every step of the way this year.
He has entered a baseball game with a football bat. "Restrictor Plate"
All the teams are restricted...
restricting 4000# and 2000# is a big diff. (Rotating mass) it takes a lot more get that big monster moving.
They're all restricted to some level
Dont confuse the global economy, with the American one. The Hummer still sells on a global scale, infact last year the Hummer ran in conjunction with the Hummer launch. I would prefer if Robby dropped the underdog card for a year and signed with a top team. This would let Monster get more opportunities to drop money in Cup sponsorship, as we are lacking in that a bit this season. Robby runs so well in mediocre stuff, I'm scared to think what he would do in something with no budget.
Is anyone else having issues wioth the tracker? I cannot even bring it up now!
