Join us for the Dakar Rally on Jan 7, 2009 , right here and chat about the action during the 5th stage.Robby begins the day 9th overall in the standings.

Stage 5 - Wednesday, January 7
Neuquen > San Rafael
Connection: 173 km | Special: 506 km | Connection: 84 km | Total: 763 km
The major test of the first week of the race will perhaps be fought on the road to San Rafael. The long distance will oblige teams to remain concentrated at all times. The pilots will also be confronted with real dune passageways, including a range nearly twenty kilometers long. Long off-road stretches will alternate with much more technical sections in the track following the “rios”. The Cordillera can be seen on the horizon, but taking time to sightsee is out of the question: a too-late arrival at the bivouac always leaves a mark.

I just hope towards the end Robby is at least in the top 5 in the standings. or the top 10.
That is so true Blues. Same thing with the tracking of Robby on each day. Be patient, he will eventually show up on the live tracking or on the classification pages. And if you see on the classification pages alot of drivers that started behind him on that day making it to the CP's before Robby, then there is a potential problem.
Things are not that dire, top 10 at this point is not the end of the world, as expressed by the result of previous Dakars. There is sooooooooooo much of the rally left, and it only takes one mistake or bit of bad luck to put the whole thing on the trailer at any time. This really is one that you have to "just cruise" and "be around at the end" as frustrating as that can be to hear...
next 2 stages have some wicked elevation changes, so I suspect there will be some major shakeups in the top 10 overall standings.
After stage 3 he had 15gals of fuel left, this stage isn,t as long but pulling the sand and using more power I worry.
It's early, he's in good shape. It's not a 25 lap Saturday night feature, everyone will have problems. They're just getting started. You gotta take a Valium with your Monster.....
yep,
Here is my two cents..that's probably not even worth a penny....

I think tommorow we will see what the Monster Hummer can do...I understand this is a Loooonnngggg race and you have to be around at the end. I think Robby is well behind were he wants to be (45 minutes downs and his goal was to stay within 5 minutes daily)..........I'm not so sure Robby went down there to be around at the end to compete for 6 or 7th place...I think the next couple of days he goes balls out and A) Puts himself in a position to be around at the end to compete for win B). Puts it on a truck and brings that wicked sum bitch home in pieces

Regardless.......I'm starting to like this more than NASCAR
Need more video for me. Waatching the computer screen get a little old, waiting for check points.
ya it does but thats all we got......you can always surf porn while you are waiting thats what i do....lol
oh yeah this makes nascar seems boring and im a nascar fan!
You mid-westers and easters have got to come wittness a real desert race( parker, baja, barstow, vegas) and see why us in cali, really have it all going for us and why nascar is secondary to real racing.
