Join us for the Dakar Rally's fourth day on Jan 6, 2009 , right here and chat about the action during the 4th stage.Robby sits in 9th overall, only 34 minutes from the lead.

Stage 4 - Tuesday, January 6
Jacobacci > Neuquen
Connection: 4 km | Special: 459 km | Connection: 25 km | Total: 488 km
At the start of this stage, the rocky passageways will make heavy demands on the arms of motorcyclists, while those who are accustomed to “wadis” will be obliged to negotiate the Argentinian “rios” with the same careful attention. Next, the first sandy portions and the long kilometers of off-road will thrill those who love driving them. Careful now! Mistakes can begin to be costly: the stage toward Neuquen has all the ingredients of a trap. By taking on more or less of a lead, the favorites can begin to show themselves and provide indications of a ranking that just might last.

oh my bad he passed Robby on the track i think dam he's fast.
Yeah, he is as fast as anyone and isn't taking that 30 minute misshap the other day. He is still trying to run for a top overall finish.
Alphand is through 419km. 3rd for the stage ,and has moved RG back to 9th in the running order of overall
Sheesh! Where's Rob...Saintz and Al- Attiyah have finished.
lost another 5min
its the updates he is still runnin
Yeah, people need to keep in mind that he STARTED nearly a half hour later than the leaders. So if he were running just as fast, it would be a half hour before we saw RGs time. Since he is noticebly slower, you have to be patient. Its gonna be about 45 to 50 minutes after Sainz crossed the finish, when we will actually see a time for RG.
RG 9th through KM 419.0, now 11'03" back. 9th overall 45'35" back

Not making up any time, and falling back. Top 10 is still good, but we need some Hummer friendly terrain real soon.
Loosing time, quite a bit actually. And Alphand is running great. Alphand will be back around RG in the overall for certian now. He actually made up 30 seconds between 368 and 419, where RG lost five minutes.

I kept hearing that this stage overall, and especially the last 100km were going to be VERY Hummer friendly. It seems that the Hummer just doesn't have anything to keep up with the BMWs, VWs and Mitsubishi at this point....
Yes, Alphand passed Robby in the overall, but Holowczyc dropped back leaving Robby in 9th.
Yup, one up, one down, net.....same
Maybe a flat or something. 5 min is a lot of time
