January 12th-17th, the Rally Raid continues from Riyadh through the South Eastern area of Saudi Arabia before heading to West, finishing in Qiddiya.

Among those disappointed with their showing on the second stage, Ricky Brabec will be looking to take advantage of his starting position to regain time on his rivals. The Honda rider has completed the first 43 kilometres with the best time, 7 seconds ahead of his team-mate Kevin Benavides. Ross Branch has ground to a halt after an impeccable start to the stage in his position as first man out. The winner of stage two has been halted for a number of minutes after 88 km of the special. Pablo Quintanilla has also lost a significant amount of time in the same place.

Paulo Gonçalves has stopped after 30 kilometres of the special with a broken engine. The Portuguese’ rider is now awaiting his assistance team and probably will not reach the end of his 13th Dakar, meaning the Hero team will be losing its leader.09:17 Brabec opens up a gap

Due to a technical problem that affected the GPS of the bikers, the race stewards have decided to modify the results recorded at the finishing line of the special. The results for the stage will be established using the times achieved at way-point 53, after 389 km of the initially planned route.

Carlos Sainz has been quick to find a good pace and post the best time after 43 km of the special. The Spaniard leads Nasser Al-Attiyah and Stéphane Peterhansel, as was to be expected, since all these drivers need to regain time after the problems the encountered yesterday!11:02 Al-Attiyah catches Sainz
The duel between Nasser Al-Attiyah and Carlos Sainz is up and running. The two men are only separated by 11 seconds after 125 km, with the Toyota driver in the lead. Stéphane Peterhansel trails the Qatari by 1’35.12:07 Al-Attiyah gains a few seconds more
Nasser Al-Attiyah cannot shake Carlos Sainz off his tail, but he has managed to gain a few extra seconds over the Spaniard, who now trails him by 45 seconds. Following a more than tricky stage yesterday, Fernando Alonso has reacted perfectly on the third special. The Spaniard, alongside co-pilot Marc Coma, crossed the finishing line in fourth place, behind the surprising Yasir Seaidan.

With todays bike adjustment to WP 53 / 389km from 427km it have bikes approx. a 30 minute overall time advantage
