This is a hell of lot better than his past decission of a F.O.R.D. (Found On Road Dead). I was a fan of Dodge but there was no information sharing from any of the other Dodge camps (except for Pensky towards the end of the season). If I am not mistaken, Pensky will be changing to Toyota by 2010 anyway!
toyota, dodge, ford, chevy as long as my boy ROBBY is behind the wheel i don't care if he is in a smart car.I just hope he does not play second class citizen to the likes of gibbs.
now we just need some good set ups under that body and we should be OK
Smart move... covers all aspects of Robby's racing venues. Next up FJ?
From what I know, just hold on...2009 could be a very big year for RGM, on pavement and dirt.
So if RGM is getting factory direct support from Toyota would it be necessary to have a techincal agreement with another Toyota team?
There is one thing about Robby.........he knows his business.....

What a great frickin move......I will be REALLY surprised if Chevy, Ford and Dodge make it past next season...if they are even involved in the upcoming season. I highly doubt a Car Czar is going to allow 100's of Millions to be spent playing ..I mean advertising..I mean Marketing..I mean playing in NASCAR....

Glad this happened now and not during Speed Week.......

Gas the fuck on................

Petty-GEM Deal Off? Sirius Speedway has learned that the much-discussed merger between Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Petty Enterprises has run aground. Anonymous sources say that GEM laid off approximately 50 employees today, and that its Nationwide Series team will either be eliminated or cut back dramatically. In addition, multiple sources say that GEM’s #10 Sprint Cup team and driver Reed Sorenson will also run only a partial schedule. While not commenting on the reported demise of the Petty deal, Gillett Evernham Motorsports CEO Tom Reddin confirmed today that major changes are underway. "We are a Sprint Cup team first and foremost, and winning in that series needs to be our primary focus,” he said. “The Nationwide Series is a fantastic series and we certainly look forward to racing a partial schedule in 2009, but we will not run the full season next year. We will remained focused on putting all of our effort behind the Cup program in 2009. GEM is very fortunate to have nearly all of our Cup sponsors returning in 2009 in addition to the new arrival of others." Reddin said that GEM will also restructure its engine department for 2009, to align with a reduced number of engine leasing customers next season.(Sirius Speedway/Motorsports Soapbox)
AND Over the last week, Gillett Evernham Motorsports released 65 employees between its Nationwide Series team and engine shop. Due to a downturn in the economy and the inability to secure sponsorship, GEM was forced to cease operation of its NNS team on Tuesday. GEM is still in open discussions with Petty Enterprises regarding a possible merger. However, the option of Petty Enterprises not leasing engines in the future led to the company's decision to downsize its engine department by nearly half. The organization will continue to employ nearly 300 workers at its Statesville, N.C. facility and field three teams in the Sprint Cup Series with drivers Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler and Reed Sorenson, who will join the team from Chip Ganassi Racing in 2009.(FoxSports)(12-16-2008)

Im thinking getting into the Toyota Camp now before the floodgates open and everyone but Ford teams want in was a smart move!
It's a great fucking move. Robby worked with Toyota before any of the Nascar teams, so he's got a leg up in the internal pecking order also. Just perfect. Name the car 'Robby's Rice Rocket'...!
Can't wait for the season to start. I like the latest crew chief and with some competitive equipment, Robby just might suprise some people this year.
Thats right jb7! We need a great crew chief, or keep one around who know what is going on, and one who can keep up with the changing track surfaces during a race. Things do look good from here! Rock on RGM!
A few months ago we all were hoping, wondering and praying for merger. Now, we are cheering on arguably one of the most stable teams in NASCAR. Great move Robby!!! GAS ON!!!!

P.S. Does this mean Robby and POS are gonna be working together next season (sharing info, etc)?
