COURSE OVERVIEW
This loop stage will not really be one for motorbikes and quad bikes, which will finish the first part of this second marathon stage in an isolated bivouac. Prior to this they will have spent the day, alongside the drivers in the other categories, almost entirely off-piste, both in the vegetation-scattered dunes and on harder terrains, sometimes on river beds. Physically, the day might prove to be a significant challenge, as the mercury soars. The hardiest drivers will also be those who are the most clear headed, able to make the right navigational choices, a major challenge of this special section.
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

29P4 CREWS’ CODE
2) Sale / transfer of Vehicle FORBIDEN In case of withdrawal, or after the end of the Rally, it is strictly forbidden for a Crew, a Team Manager Dakar, the owner of a Vehicle or any other person of the Team to transfer or sell his/her/a Machine(s) in any of the countries crossed. In addition to the risks incurred locally by failure to comply with the rule in force (fines, impoundment of Vehicle/passengers, etc.), any Crew found to have breached this rule will not be permitted to enter the Dakar Rally for 5 years for all the persons who can be involved and linked in this sort of business.

Is there a timeline? It sounds from the rule that even 50 years later he could not sell a Gordini to anyone that lives in a country that may have at one time hosted a Dakar.

Kevin, I think it is based on customs rules. The cars were not imported they were brought there to compete. It is the same here in the states. A lot of the rules on tires and parts etc. specifically state they can't be sold. Once the car is retuned to the home country I would think its OK

Sheldon Creed ran into clutch issues on Stage 8 after getting stuck and because he was running out of time, made the decision to skip some waypoints and head to the finish to prepare for the next day’s Stage 9. Creed knew he would get a penalty but did not know after missing so many, he would be disqualified altogether from the rally.
The decision to take an 18 year old with no rally experience was one that Robby Gordon stood behind 100%. Sheldon, coming off his SST Championship, is a very talented driver and Robby knew he was up to the task of taking on one of the hardest races in the world. Sheldon answered his critics and doubters by keeping the Gordini in one piece leading up to the half way point of the Dakar Rally, the point where Sheldon was going to be allowed to open it up and see what he could do behind the wheel. Unfortunately, with the issues he had, that was not able to happen.

Priorities for ASO seem to be French drivers AND which sponsors pony up the most money. A few years ago Mini's may have ponied up the most money and this year the Peugeots may have ponied up the most money.

Impressed by Toby Price. Never really heard of him before this, but putting in an impressive effort. Had a hit out in the SST's in Adelaide. Maybe more 4 wheel action in the future

I think it has more to do with money than nationality. The ASO is also the organizer of the Tour de France where a French cyclist hasn't won in 30 years. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some back room incentive bonuses in play from home grown rally partners like Michelin, Total, etc. who are also sponsors of the Peugeot team.

Tough break for Sheldon. Part of the learning experience I guess.
Hopefully Robby can have a couple good stages to finish on a high note.
Has been a tough Rally for Team Speed this year.Barbec on a Honda started the Rally as rider 48 and has moved up a few spots each day to 9th.
Gas on for tomorrow Team Speed!
