STAGE 9 TRACKING

STAGE 9: BELEN > BELEN

Connection 111km | Special Stage 285km | Total 396km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This loop stage will not really be one for motorbikes and quad bikes, which will finish the first part of this second marathon stage in an isolated bivouac. Prior to this they will have spent the day, alongside the drivers in the other categories, almost entirely off-piste, both in the vegetation-scattered dunes and on harder terrains, sometimes on river beds. Physically, the day might prove to be a significant challenge, as the mercury soars. The hardiest drivers will also be those who are the most clear headed, able to make the right navigational choices, a major challenge of this special section.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Dakar 1978-2015
RIP

It's like this every year, think of it as high speed camping and it won't piss you off so bad.

New rule for next year to make it a safe race.

If a participant gets within 10 min of a French based team they must pull over and stop or be disqualified.

looks like Loeb has found trouble again

where is robby???

South America

Robby is overdue at WP3 (KM130)

Sheldon Creed has cleared WP1(KM50) and is in 33rd place, +34m44s behind

Sad state of affairs with all the cancellations, remember the time drivers spend the whole night in the sahara. Local getting killed by racecars is not good for business.

From what I've gleaned from Twitter temperature is 120°F there.

18 degrees here. Take note ASO run the race in New England next year

A COMEBACK VICTORY FOR SAINZ
With the best time at CP2, Carlos Sainz has won another stage, his 29th in all, for the Peugeot team. The Spaniard has saved the day for the French team which seemed to be heading for a tough day at CP1. However, like yesterday, Sainz managed to find the will and power to inverse the trend on the stage. Only ten seconds behind him, Erik Van Loon (Mini) achieves a surprising result, with Mikko Hirvonen (Mini) 17 seconds behind the Spaniard. Stéphane Peterhansel, who finished 9'12'' behind his Iberian team-mate, loses the command of the general standings to Sainz, with Carlos now leading the Frenchman by 7'03''.

I asked the other day and no one bit so here it is again.

What team will try to get Sheldon next year?
