STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: VILLA CARLOS PAZ > TERMAS DE RIO HONDO

Connection 337km | Special Stage 521km* | Total 858km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The statistics speak for themselves: with around 800 kilometres to cover depending on the category, the day will be very long. There is a significant distance to cover in both the special and the liaison sections: although the terrain presents no real difficulties, the relatively fast tracks may already benefit those who love hills and crossing rivers and who can keep up high speeds over the whole distance. Cars and trucks are entitled to an extension on this day.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Quote from Loeb,.....he did get stuck also

moment it's going perfectly”

“That was quite good news at the end because I didn't believe it. I was stuck in the mud at the middle of the stage and was lucky to get out. I got stuck for maybe two minutes, something like that. At that moment I didn't believe I would get out like I did. Finally, I managed to join the field again and resume the stage, but it was really on the limit so I was a bit afraid. Apart from that, I had a good stage with no problems, trying to find a good rhythm and it was ok. The gaps are not a big, big difference, I have to say, but I'm really happy about the rhythm we were able to take on this stage with this car, because I didn't believe it was a buggy stage. The car is really performing well and I'm really happy with the result at the moment, so we have to continue. Tomorrow we will open the road and that will be another story, but at the moment it's going perfectly. The car was ok. I just had some braking problems after the mud. When I was stuck in the mud I think my brakes got full of mud. I had to press long on the pedal and pump a lot on the corners but then it came back ok”.

yup , told WJM about this a bit above (P27 of this thread)

Any word on the next stage, being shortened as well?

"Assistance" in the rule book is a vague, translated word. The rules are to keep team cars from "helping/repairing" racers. For the most part think of assistance as parts, tires and tools. Not getting someone unstuck.

Examples of forbidden assistance:

It is forbidden to get assistance from a registered team assistance vehicle. IE the Freightliner 686 drives a new alternator to the 312 while on a special section.

Having a local drive an alternator to the 312 is assistance.

Getting unstuck is not classified as assistance. Don't think of it in the English word meaning

So whats the final finish and tomorrows line up, also what about chat?

to early in the day to answer that question Speedy

A Polaris made it in 1hr 3min back
