STAGE 10 TRACKING

STAGE 10: IQUIQUE > ANTOFAGASTA

Connection 58km | Special Stage 631km | Total 689km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The special stage, split into two sections with very different features, will begin with the descent towards the shores of the Pacific. The advance gained in the stage the day before may will be increased in the sand during the first two hundred kilometres. Even more skill will be required to tackle the sections of fesh-fesh in the second part of the stage. Once this difficult area is behind the drivers, they will all be delighted to twist and wind along the region’s mine tracks, and in particular to be welcomed by the majestic arch of La Portuda, a stone’s throw from the bivouac in Antofagasta.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

I agree and safer too. Much thanks to our cousins in the south for holding this race in their beautiful countries.

how on god's green earth would you get that many land owners/government to allow you to make a race course?

there would be more tree huggers protesting than people who watch the super bowl

Tax revenues are down and economic development/tourism dollars the phrases of the day. But sadly you may be right some states went the pot legalization route so the dream may have gone up in smoke. Sad day when dope takes precedence over driving.

Your right Mike..... WOULDN'T HAPPEN Waaaayy too many permits (100's) would have to be approved all at the same time....Billions to 1 odds .... Thanks to the Bleeding heart Lib's and extreem greenies...

Too many security issues. I doubt we will ever see it again, at least on this magnitude. There is still an African rally, but it is very small and would not get the coverage an attack on the Dakar would. I agree I liked Africa from a traditionalist view, but I think for the competitors SA is a much friendlier place for them to compete. Especially when they have issues. It is nice to feel wanted. And the challenges are pretty complex in SA. I like it more every year.

and the host counties 'want it' there

The people in S.A. are very welcoming, if you tried it here you would have every tree hugger and liberal politecan in America standing in the road..

What about the owls?

It'll be in Russia or China before it's anywhere near the USA

yeah! where do i sign up for it!

That might be where the radiator got hit?
