STAGE 10 TRACKING

STAGE 10: IQUIQUE > ANTOFAGASTA

Connection 58km | Special Stage 631km | Total 689km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The special stage, split into two sections with very different features, will begin with the descent towards the shores of the Pacific. The advance gained in the stage the day before may will be increased in the sand during the first two hundred kilometres. Even more skill will be required to tackle the sections of fesh-fesh in the second part of the stage. Once this difficult area is behind the drivers, they will all be delighted to twist and wind along the region’s mine tracks, and in particular to be welcomed by the majestic arch of La Portuda, a stone’s throw from the bivouac in Antofagasta.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

if Roma hadn't lost the time from 1-2 he'd be in this thing today

Not panicing until there is reason to panic. Timing is all over the place with some cars not being tracked at Waypoints and 2 cars not even registering at Checkpoint 1 but timed at Waypoint 3 which follows CP1.

Robby Gordon is too big of a name for the Dakar website to not provide any Live Commments if something was wrong after passing WP1. Relax and wait.

True. But other than following the Mini train today Dakar.com has been really quiet today.

The truth of the matter is this---RG is without doubt one of the most talented drivers--period. This year is a shake down of the Gordini. When team Speed Energy makes assessments and modifications the HST Gordini will be up front---in the top 5---on a consistent basis and will win a Dakar. This will be considered outstanding---similar to a one car team in Nascar or Indycar or Formula 1 competing for a championship. All of this WHILE operating and running in other series. This year is tough to watch knowing the driver that RG is but it is what it is---a test session to figure out how to make the HST Gordini competitive and consistent

rg time coming in standby
