STAGE 10 TRACKING

STAGE 10: IQUIQUE > ANTOFAGASTA

Connection 58km | Special Stage 631km | Total 689km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The special stage, split into two sections with very different features, will begin with the descent towards the shores of the Pacific. The advance gained in the stage the day before may will be increased in the sand during the first two hundred kilometres. Even more skill will be required to tackle the sections of fesh-fesh in the second part of the stage. Once this difficult area is behind the drivers, they will all be delighted to twist and wind along the region’s mine tracks, and in particular to be welcomed by the majestic arch of La Portuda, a stone’s throw from the bivouac in Antofagasta.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Adding weight to gain traction takes you in exactly the wrong direction. The added mass, while giving more down force, requires even more traction to move that added mass forward, to slow it down or stop, and even to go around a corner. It's simple physics. Newton: F (force)=M (mass)xA (acceleration--a change in velocity or direction) If you add mass, you need more force, both in the form of power, braking, and "grip" to perform. That's why all race vehicles strive to get weight to a minimum. Dakar vehicles already carry a tremendous fuel weight. Weight balance, possibly even going to a mid-engine configuration, is the key, not adding weight.

Length and wheel base!!! Too much power for being smaller! Thats why all the best trophy trucks are longer and bigger wheel base !!!

it only has 325? hp.

RG at WP5 1:01:35 (21st)

so ,RG has lost 7:32 since WP2? damn

In the truck race, Karginov has narrowed the gap to De Rooy to only 00:08:45 for 1st overall at WP7.
