STAGE 4 TRACKING

STAGE 4: SAN JUAN > CHILECITO

Connection 211km | Special Stage 657km | Total 868km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The strategy of the motorcyclists will come into play: initially their navigational skills will be seriously tested at the beginning of the morning, and then they will be faced with the problem of worn tyres, as they have already been over-used the day before. As for the drivers of cars, they will have an even more demanding route to tackle in the countryside. The Dakar’s competitors haven’t faced a special stage this long since the historical one from Zouerat to Tichit in 2005! They will have to cross rivers, descend the canyons in a Wild West setting and beware of the other participants: as these terrains are often wide open, it will be entirely possible to overtake fellow competitors.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

tou - a -reg ; )

Ahh right... I thought it looked a little weird.

Moving form other thread to see if any of you have an answer -
Anyone know why Robby and everyone uses big V8's with a restrictor? Seems a smaller engine with a turbo would be better for the altitude not to mention lighter and more efficient given they can't use all the HP anyway. Are the restrictors based of HP limits?

Thats an easy one:
Turboless Torque. Any other questions?

Turbo's have more torque however. At least all the Turbo comparisons I have seen in non-race cars.

because we are americans and like big v8 noise :)

dont let my pic fool you v8's rule

Yeah I think that is the reason. I say put the new M4 V6 with Turbo's in it and see how it goes. Heck a Hybrid might be good at this altitude.

Just in 2 min resume the stage 4th for Ipad and iPhone here...

Reading the quotes from the Dakar page and it sounds like there was 1 waypoint that was a bitch to find!

Any info what caused them to lose 42 minutes to the Sainz Buggy?
