STAGE 2 TRACKING

STAGE 2: SAN LUIS > SAN RAFAEL

Connection 365km | Special Stage 433km | Total 798km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The fastest special stage of the rally, at least for its first part, will also be the one where drivers will have to face the first dunes. And it won’t just be a brief encounter with sand: in the last 100 kilometres, the exploration of the grey dunes of Nihuil will be even more intensive than during previous visits. The sand is more firm there, but the experience will provide a great deal of insight about each of the competitors’ technical skills. In short it will be a veritable test.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Great. What was the RF wheel issue today? Sorry, first day back to work, was alittle busy.

Do we have the same engines and possibly the same fuel injection systems in:
(1) Gordini
(2) EV's two cars
(3) Sainz/SMG/Jefferies
(4) Brenthel's
(5) Jimco/Durango

If yes, there's plenty of experience right there in Camp Snoopy.

Will these guys talk to each other? - I know, some do, some don't...

#5 no,it's a modified LS
#3 has to many lump'd together
Jefferies is #2
Only the SMG's have don't had this issue, so are they 'stock LS's"?

Thx MK

Is air intake getting too much hot air? Is engine getting too much heat from lack of ducted air over it?

Why DID Robby come home on the hook today, anyway?

Was it because of the vapor lock? Do we know?

That seems to be the question...

robbygordon.com stage 2 reports:
However, midway through the special things took a turn for the worst, and the HST Gordini developed a mechanical failure and would require a tow to finish losing valuable time to the Stage leaders.

so today it might not have been a vapor lock problem.... and something else

Thanks Sandi for the post. I really to appreciate the chat, but "mechanical failure," is no more precise than saying "he came home on the hook.

But if you see it come tell us.

I keep thinking I've read about vapor lock again, but if this is the case, I don't understand coming home on the hook.

WJM said they had the same issue today as relayed by someone down there. It's better getting towed in than having to keep stopping and or possibly hurting the engine from leaning it out!
