STAGE 1 TRACKING

STAGE 1: ROSARIO > SAN LUIS

Connection 629km | Special Stage 180km | Total 809km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors will wake up early to set off along the road in the region of Cordoba and start the race on some narrow tracks which will require the utmost vigilance. Each one will still be very fresh allowing them to tackle the stony sections or the blind jumps serenely. The competitors’ driving skills will be rewarded at the finish, where they will have already clocked up 800 kilometres. Although the gaps will not be significant at this stage of the race, it is nevertheless important to maintain their position in the part of the standings that they are aiming for!

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Here is a interview from Carlos Sainz about the whole advantage of the Buggy B.S.

Carlos Sainz: "We'll see whether the buggies really have an edge..."

"It's a new challenge with a new team and a new car, and since I'm always up for a challenge I'm happy to be on the start line of the Dakar again. First thing for us will be to see how we fare compared with the 4x4s, and then we'll see whether we can win this race, which is obviously our goal. Everyone says the rulebook gives buggies an edge, so I wonder why there aren't more official buggies! Seriously now, 4x4s have proved their superiority over the last few years and it's been ages since a buggy last won the Dakar. We've worked our socks off to make our car as fast as possible by making the most of rules on buggies. We'll now find out whether this theoretical edge everyone speaks of is real. That being said, it's not all about mechanics, you've also got to drive the car and finish the specials and the race. So we'll find out at the end of the rally, not after a few days."

I have this live feed working but a lot of spam popups to have to clear, you have to look carefully for the little x boxes to close them all.
