Stephane Peterhansel Talks About Robby Gordon, Dakar 2014

From the German website, Motorsport-magazin.com , Stephane Peterhansel talks briefly about Robby Gordon.

(Translated as best as possible)

Your rival Robby Gordon also restarts at the Dakar. What do you expect from him?

Stéphane Peterhansel : I know that Robby Gordon takes up with a different concept of his car this time . But this I do not have too much information.

In recent years it went on between the two of you from time to time. Does the Dakar require such stories , also with regard to the media coverage ?

Stéphane Peterhansel : I realize that the media loves drivers such as Robby Gordon & the need for good stories . The problem with this, In the Dakar , there are clear rules for years. Not all other drivers adhere to the regulations , only he annoys me. That's not fair for the others. The second winner is the first loser . For me, the only goal is victory.

Is it you at all important that Robby Gordon participates again in the Dakar ?

Stéphane Peterhansel :
I do not honestly care if he is or not.

French people are worst loosers on the world, so they have created own races and competitions on tennis(Roland Garros), cycling(tour the France), or rally raid(Dakar rally) and the only way to win, is relegate all over the people out from french competitors. We saw it with RG with Stephane Peterhansel or Marc Coma with Cyril Despres on motos...HOW EMBARRASSING, FRENCH PEOPLE!!

The Dakar and the cycling TDF are organized by the same organization ASO. I cant remember seeing a French guy podium with the TDF in what the last 20-30 years? At least it seems that long. I bet if they (ASO)had a handle fixing the overall on that race, without a doubt they would have done so ( a couple of times) by now. It didnt happen, and I doubt the Dakar is "fixable" either. I honestly think RG could have won the Dakar a couple of times by now, its just a lot of variables to overcome to win the darn thing. Vehicle reliability is playing a major factor, far more so then a bike with the TDF. I think personally what finally has sunk it with RG is that the Hummer wasnt an allround of a vehicle enough to seriously compete with rest of the field. The playing catchup in the Dunes excuse after some WRX style stages was getting real old the last couple of Dakars.
I think right now he finally has build a competitive vehicle to compete with the best in EVERY stage! Thats the only way to have a good shot at the win. On top of that he needs to keep his cool, and looking at the last dakars hes doing a better and better job at that too ( except those few ridicoulous long jumps as seen on some youtube vids) ( amazing by the way!) . Its clear now, if he keeps this truck together hes going to just cruise to the podium top step. I Cant wait!

ya got the Quitarian winning stages and when Robby gets into a position to take the lead the ASO get into their "we must go F with this guy" mode. They do their best to keep our opinions strong. I disagree with the thought of the Hummer wasn't good enough, factory teams just have way to many resources, but in the end there were way to many distractions to have a clean race. @TOG keep the sugar coming, we all love sweets this time of year. GasOn Robby !!!!!

This the Peterhansel way to win races.... (Calle-ci est la forme de gagner les courses)

Every time I see that clip it reminds me of almost getting smashed by a stoned out buggy driver in the middle of Pismo Dunes in 86'. My guy was locked up after I found a ranger and Peter was given the first place trophy. Hope the ASO puts as much respect into this years race as they did choosing the course. Peter will care when he loses, can't say "no care" after that. Arrogance is in all countries, the French are just really good at it.

He should have been DQ'd or severly penalized for that. I can't recall if the bike was able to continue or not. What if the rider had been washed down the river? He easily could have been killed. I don't think the french organizers would have taken kindly to RG pulling the same stunt. That being said, I hope Pecker keeps running his mouth. It'll make it all that much sweeter when RG Roosts the Shit outta him all rally long....Maybe there should be a roosting camera on the HST too ;-)

If nothing else, this just adds to the drama of each stage. Petersniffer can talk all he wants.

This good bulletin board material for the Gordini Camp and a great way get everyevery excited.

Now I know how my kids feel in anticipation of Christmas.

I read while eating french fries............(Now that is a stupid comment no?)

Oui

Peterhansel just doesn't like that an American has stolen alot of his thunder and that he is not the center of attention. Robby is another American in a French competition topping the highlite reels even on his bad days!

I would pay lots of money to roost some dirt on PH while fully corrected and passing. In fact just toy with this guy is great. He will go nutts i can feel it. Robby is our guy period, end of story.

The roost will happen just once in stage 1, after that the field will try to spot RG's taillights.
