11/09/08 Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway

I don't know if my dad and I are going or not this time around, we have been the last 5 of 6 races. We don't get to choose our seats though, and we usually get the tickets last minute, so we don't even know where we are going to end up at, but if I get any word I'll let you know and maybe we could hook up at the merchandise trailer.

Sorry, we are only going to the truck race this yr. Hotel rooms are just priced out the window and you have to book most of them for 2 or 3 days. Maybe next yr.

planning on going to the race this year...where is the "place to be" for seats? i am thinking about hillside, but i dont know about the view from there. any good? i am also planning on bringing the RV as well.

I've sat everywhere except the hillside. The backstretch has a good view, but the seats are terrible. It is half-rotted out wood bleachers. Turn 1 is the best not sure which grandstand) but some of the seats have backs and arm rests and the bathrooms and food joints are only about 5 stairs away. I've sat in turn 4 multiple times, just bleachers, great view of the track. The only downside is the sun is terrible when it is setting, we got burned despite the constant supply of sunscreen. I would also definitely bring the RV. We brought our trailer for the April race. It's not that long of a distance from the track, took us about 10-15 minutes to walk. It is also nice to be able to save some money and eat your own food instead of buying a $10 burger and $3 soda.

Hillside is interesting. Referred to by many as Snakebite Hill. lol I don't think anyone has actually been bitten in the 16 yrs we have been going but they find at least one snake (rattler) per weekend up there. I liked the view but we sit in the Allison stands now. It has shade and real bathrooms. Great track no matter where you sit and RV city is great too. Never got flack for haveing Stewart, Hornaday, Petty and R Gordon banners.
