I'm going to keep an eye on this between rides this holiday weekend. It looks like they have streaming and tracking all set up here- http://www.irondograce.org/
Being a Southern Californian, I have no clue about snow machines (is that the right name ?), but looking at the specs on Kevin's new sled piqued my interest. Hopefully some of you cold weather folks can fill in some details for me.
Am I correct in assuming that the set up on the rigs for this race is similar to what you would to to a bike for the Dakar? Or would the comparison be more like the Baja 1000?
Does your beer get all shaken up like it does in a fanny pack on a bike?

sleds, snow machines, snowmobile in PC correct regions.Yes, your beer is well mixed and you have storage for more of it.
I don't partake when I ride. For some reason I always think it's like a national trail ride,I need to be mentally 'on'.

Any idea if it's marked course like Baja (seems hard in the snow)? I would think it must be a GPS / roadbook course ?

I believe it's this event that Todd Palin has won a few times

Yes, I remember seeing that he is a Polaris dealer, and preps sleds for other racers (?)

interesting,Todd shows to have won on Cat's

I don't drink and ride either.. too many close calls sober.

First feeling sitting on the Rush.. I feel too high off the ground.

The live stream looks like what I think of when someone says "hockey".

Edit; oops, that was hockey.

Do the guy's starting out front have an advantage with a fresh track?

Just like starting first in motos at Dakar.. you better have an idea of where you're going cause they're following your trail fast.

But the guys further back have a beat out trail, if I understood right.(?) The team aspect is fascinating to me.

Can make up the difference on trail conditions by going flat out following a safe path.
