STAGE 14: LA SERENA > SANTIAGO

Connection 502km | Special Stage 128km | Total 630km

COURSE OVERVIEW

To reach the Chilean capital, the heroes of the 2013 Dakar will still have to remain focused on the amazing fast tracks, where the pleasure of driving will go hand in hand with their sense of accomplishment. After the journey on the road, the drivers will be expected on a show course a few kilometres long, where they will be able to delight spectators by performing skids and jumps. This will be a foretaste of the highly emotional ceremony which will be organised the next day facing the Palacio de La Moneda, on the Plaza de la Constitución.

I wonder how high a Mini can jump??? Sounds like they might need a showman... RG perhaps?

Chicherit 35 seconds ahead of RG at WP2

Hmm , not a stage for the Hummer

Top 6 at KM111 1) Roma 2) Terranova +1m24s 3) Alvarez +1m31s 4) DeVilliers +1m57s 5) Chicherit +2m15s 6) GORDON +2m48s

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda, Horeshoes and Hand Grenades but WTF
Going into todays stage (14), if you were to deduct Robbys mishaps from stage 1 & 4 and give him the same time as those stages winners and if my math is correct - I come up with him being 2:27 behind Peterhansel overall for the first 13 stages of the race.

I understand Peterhan.. has been taking it easy the last few stages. But then deduct Robby's 10 minutes being stuck at the dune checkpoint and if they would have not stopped his first stage win at Check Point 1 he would have put more minutes on Peterhan..maybe another 5 or so. Robby would have been very close getting the overall.

But this is why it's Dakar - all of the challenges with the terrain, elements and navigation make it a beast.

Outside of the two major unfortunate mishaps Robby's at the top and a strong second place.

As of WP3 Robby has taken about 5 minutes out of Kahle's 11 minute advantage.

Yep, looks like 14th overall. Not a bad run considering the 5 hours he spent on his lid. At least he had a good run, with no mechanical failures to speak of.

Or injuries

Maybe Kahle will have something hold him up in the parade section...

Has everything come to a screeching halt? I haven't seen any updates for the last hour+ here, the "official site" nor trackingdakar.nl.

Anybody know what's going on?

Nani Roma takes it by 1'24' over Orlando Terranova and 1'31' over Lucio Álvarez. Stéphane Peterhansel drove cautiously and finished 3'55' behind his teammate. Now, the drivers will have to tackle a 220 km link section before the final 15 timed kilometres.

I believe that they are in the link section, plus the DAKAR updates are slow to come.

Link aka parade section over 217km long and they must be having a good time showboating
