"The location is Parker, Arizona. The year is 1996. When company founder Danny Porter rolled out a newly-built car for that season’s SCORE desert opener, it was obvious that this was no ordinary homebuilt machine. Possessing the same innovative thinking and detailed workmanship that are the trademarks of Porter Race Cars to this day, the new car won several major races that year.

It was a sign of things yet to come.

A lifelong desert enthusiast, Danny Porter would make the gradual transition from championship driver to self-taught chassis builder by the late 1990s. He began working for Riverside, Calif., automotive dealer Rod Muller as a chief mechanic for the Muller Hood off-road team, always looking toward building cars of his own design. That opportunity came in 1998, when Muller commissioned Porter to create a brand new car to compete in Class 1 for unlimited open wheel race cars. Featuring a host of innovative new design and engineering concepts, the car again raised the level of the sport for others to aspire to.

The positive reaction from the racing community was exactly the justification Porter needed to follow his vision. Danny built several new cars in the following years, including a V8 powered Class1 car for highly talented Damen Jefferies and team owner Rob Herman. The success of these projects led Porter to hire mechanic Jason Duncan in 1999, just before the company moved into its current 5,000 square foot Riverside facility.

Now firmly established as a premier open-wheel chassis fabricator, the Porter team was tapped to take on the sport's ultimate division in July of 2000, a move which included the addition of master fabricator and racing champion Billy Gasper. Incorporating the latest in technology and innovative thinking, the Herman Motorsports Ford F-150 Trophy-Truck represented a rolling tribute to the Porter Race Car philosophy. It is clean in design and thoughtfully finished in many unique details. More importantly, it was a winner right out of the box, powering Jefferies to the 2001 and 2002 Best in the Desert "Trick Truck" championship.

Today, the Porter Race Car operation has grown to include many master fabricators, as well as an entire in-house CNC machine shop.

Because he builds great stuff. The off-road guys Robby's bringing into the nascar world bring their pride along with their skills, which leads to something to prove and should give the team motivation and pull them together. Great move.
Now this is some good news.
porter race cares did a presentation at my school, Wyotech, they do some pretty sick stuff with chassis. this is defenetly some good news!
